Meet Chili, a one-year-old Collie mix who approaches life with the cheerful confidence of someone who's never once considered that the party's not specifically for him.<br/>Chili originally came to Animal Aid when a young couple found themselves with a tiny apartment, two dogs, and a surprise baby. He was adopted.<br/>And then he came back. Because he got intestinal worms.<br/>Now, worms are certainly unpleasant. Nobody's ever received that diagnosis and thought, "Excellent news." But they're also a fairly ordinary fact of dog ownership. Dogs can pick up intestinal parasites surprisingly easily - from contaminated soil, other animals, fleas, or simply exploring the outdoors - and most common intestinal worms are very treatable. Medication goes in, worms go out, civilization continues.<br/>But, here we are.<br/>Fortunately, Chili hasn't let this dampen his enthusiasm for humanity.<br/>He's sweet, affectionate, cuddly, house-trained, eager to please, and extremely playful. He loves to zip and zoom, and what he needs now is someone who can also teach him the other half of being a happy dog: how to settle.<br/>Puzzle toys, sniffing games, mental enrichment, quiet routines, and activities that engage his brain will help Chili learn that life does not always require operating at "THE BEST THING EVER IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW" speed.<br/>He's an energetic young herding mix, so because of those natural herding tendencies, we recommend a home without young children or cats.<br/>And Chili loves his toys. When we gave him a pile to choose from, he picked one and proudly brought it to us. Then another. And another. Apparently, every treasure requires immediate presentation to the humans, because Chili believes happiness is considerably better when everybody is involved.<br/>Chili already knows how to bring the party. What he needs is a family willing to help him learn when it's time to turn down the music, put up his feet, and, well, chill.<br/>If your family could use a little more joy, a little more laughter, and a steady supply of personally delivered squeaky toys, Chili may be your guy.<br/>Come meet Chili at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA.
