Chilaquil's Story

Hello! I am Chilaquil, a medium-sized (16lb), elderly dog of approximately 11 years of age, with medium-length brown hair. I have already been dewormed, vaccinated, and neutered through the adoption program.

I had been wandering the streets of a private neighborhood for several months until I noticed my buddy, "Pato," had managed to get into a house where more dogs and cats live and are fed by some very nice people. So, I didn't wait any longer and headed to that house.

When they took me for a check-up, I had infectious rhinotracheitis, so I had to receive treatment. Additionally, they had to run some tests to ensure I could undergo my neutering surgery without any issues, and they even gave me a dental cleaning.

I am sociable with people and get along with other small dogs and cats without any problems. I mostly stay indoors, but I also like to go outside to sunbathe and walk around the yard. I bark when people run or move too fast, perhaps because it gets a bit harder for me to recognize them (since I'm getting older).

My caretakers had to move abroad, but they left me with someone who has been taking great care of me, and is helping me find my forever home.

I have been waiting for a new home for about a year now, but I don't lose hope. I hope to finally find a loving and responsible family that will take good care of me!

My caretakers had to move abroad, but they left me with someone who has been taking great care of me, and is helping me find my forever home.

I have been waiting for a new home for about a year now, but I don't lose hope. I hope to finally find a loving and responsible family that will take good care of me!

Gente Por Los Animales's Adoption Policy
Once the adopter's information is submitted – name, phone number, address, email, and the name of the animal they wish to adopt – a volunteer from the organization will contact them within the next three business days, either electronically or by phone, to conduct an interview via video call in order to verify that the requirements are met and to complete the adoption form. If the application is approved, we will schedule the delivery of the dog or cat to begin their two-week trial period, allowing the adopting family to spend time with the animal and decide if they want to adopt them permanently. All animals are delivered dewormed, vaccinated, and sterilized. A recovery fee of 20 USD per animal is requested for delivery in Mexicali, Baja California. We can also cross the border to El Centro, Calexico, Heber, or Yuma, but in this case, it is necessary to place a microchip in the dogs, which incurs an additional cost of 25 USD. Eventually, we can transport the animals to San Diego or Los Angeles, but a 40 USD transportation fee is requested.
