Note: Dogs are pack animals and do not do well away from other members of their pack. The adopter is the alpha member of the pack, and the dog or puppy needs as much one-on-one contact with the alpha as possible. For this reason, all Route 66 Rescue Inc. dogs are adopted to inside homes only. They must be on leash, or inside a secure fence when outside, and not left outside alone when no one is home. Invisible fencing does not qualify as protection since other animals and strangers have access to the dog. The dogs must be returned to Route 66 Rescue, Inc. if ever given up by the adopter. Chief is a very sweet dog. He's super friendly and gets along great with children and with other dogs. He has some food aggression, but has been half-starved most of his life. No aggression at all with his puppies. He has had no training and will have to learn not to jump on people. He is so anxious for attention, it is hard to contain his excitement. He has spent his life outside and is very anxious for attention from people.

He loves to chase squirrels and entertains himself in his yard by barking at them. He is a year and a half old and has the energy of the teenager he is. Please email for an adoption application. route66rescue@yahoo.com
