Chica's Story

Meet Chica!

One of the most important things we do when we visit shelters looking for dogs to bring into our rescue is to look beyond what we see at that moment. Sometimes a dog arrives scared, neglected, or simply in need of a little TLC, and we have to imagine the beautiful dog waiting underneath.

Sweet little Chica was exactly one of those dogs.

This precious 8-year-old, 11.6-pound Shih Tzu may have looked a little rough around the edges when we first met her, but one thing was impossible to missher loving heart. She was friendly, sweet, and soaking up every bit of attention she received. We knew with a little pampering, she was going to absolutely shine.

And wow... were we right!

Our wonderful friend Colleen at Bark-N-Bath in Owings got Chica in for a spa day right away and worked her magic! Chica came back looking like a completely different dogfresh, fabulous, and feeling like a brand-new girl.

And can we just talk about her adorable little snaggle tooth for a minute? We are pretty sure it is her signature look and part of her charm. It sticks out just enough to make her even more adorable and gives her that "too cute to handle" personality. We certainly wouldn't change a thing about it!

We want to extend a very sincere thank you to Colleen for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for rescue dogs. She has a special way of seeing the beauty in every dog and helping them feel their very best. We are so grateful for the compassion she shows our pups and the many ways she helps them start their next chapter looking and feeling amazing.

There is nothing better than seeing a dog realize they are cared for and loved, and Chica's transformation is a beautiful reminder of why we never judge a dog by their appearance on their hardest day.

Now this little beauty is ready for the next chapter of her lifea forever home where she can be cherished, spoiled, and loved like she deserves.

If you are interested in meeting Chica, please submit an application on our website.

Let's find this gorgeous little girl the happy ending she has been waiting for!
