Chet's Story

LOCATION: JACKSON, MO
ADOPTABLE ANYWHERE IN THE USA

Chet is a 7 year old foxhound, about 47 pounds, and possibly the most agreeable dog in Missouri. The vet, a bath, a pet store full of strangers- none of it bothered him. His foster says he's the nicest foster she's ever kept, and she has a long history of fostering, so that's a pretty strong endorsement.

He was found as a stray in rural Missouri, and he's been winning people over ever since. The vet staff loved him. The bath place loved him. A girl at the pet supply store met him, recognized him from his original post, and handed over a donation for the rescue on the spot.

Chet gets along with other dogs, including his foster's six-hound crew, and ignored the local kittens entirely. He can be a little nervous with new people but he warms up quickly. He even knows sit and heel!

Right now Chet mostly wants to sleep. He's being treated for ehrlichia, a tick-borne infection, and he's showing some evidence of having a hard life before coming in to our care. He's eating well, gaining weight, and the vet expects him to perk up as he recovers.

Chet is looking for a home where he can finish his nap, go for a long sniffy walk, and learn to get used to being a loved and very spoiled family dog.

Chet - Foxhound - Jackson, MO - transport available - adoptable nationwide

Helpless Hounds Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
For a complete list of our adoption criteria, please visit: https://www.helplesshounds.com/faqs NOTE: You must complete and submit an application and be approved to adopt prior to being able to meet the dog. We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always try to select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs and try to find the best match for both dog and human. We leave a dog’s profile online until either it has been adopted, or has received several applications. We are a non-profit organization that spends our adoption fees and donations on vaccinations, surgeries, various medical tests, medicines, food and supplies needed by our dogs. Our fees do not cover the overall expenses incurred by the care of our dogs, but they do help defray the costs involved. We thank you for your support.
