Cherry 3479's Story

11/25/25 I really can't believe that this adorable 2-year-old CHERRY hasn’t found a home yet. She’s super sweet and gets along well with other dogs. Plus, she behaves nicely and walks wonderfully on a leash. Right now, she’s undergoing treatment for heartworm and will be spayed once that’s done, but she’s all set to find her forever home.

10/26/25. Meet 2-year-old "Cherry". She was given away for FREE at a "Laundry Mat" last year to an 80-year-old woman and her bedridden 89-year-old husband who live in a 3rd-story apartment with NO elevator; needless to say there were not many walks taken. She was taken to the Humane Society at the time only for vaccines.

A young and energetic Doberman was just too much for this situation, and just getting her down the stairs was an impossibility. So she was surrendered to Doberman Rescue League and taken to the vet. She is heartworm positive, she needs to be spayed and have dental work. The nails themselves were an emergency.

But she is the absolute sweetest girl. She needs a new home. She likes other dogs. We will be doing her heartworm treatment and spay, so if you can foster or would like to foster to adopt, let us know. If you can't foster, then share or donate to help "Cherry".Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home.
Foster Application Adoption Application
