Cheech's Story

Meet Cheech — a goofy, 3 and a half year old, puppy-like sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart! He came to the shelter as a stray and was immediately ready to make friends, play games, and soak up every bit of attention he could get.

At the shelter, Cheech has shown himself to be a smart, affectionate, and incredibly enthusiastic dog who throws his whole self into life. Whether he’s zooming around, proudly carrying toys, or checking in for pets and treats, he approaches everything with joyful energy and charm.

Because Cheech is such an active and intelligent guy, he’s still learning how to slow down and settle when he gets excited. Like many young-at-heart dogs, he can sometimes get overstimulated and slip into "puppy brain," especially during playtime. The good news is that he’s very trainable and responds wonderfully to positive reinforcement, structure, enrichment, and consistency.

Cheech would thrive with adopters who enjoy interactive dogs and are excited to continue helping him build confidence, impulse control, and relaxation skills. He loves enrichment activities, training games, sniffy walks, food puzzles, and learning new things. He’s the perfect candidate for someone who wants a fun best friend to adventure with and bond closely to.

Because of his size and excitement level, Cheech would likely do best with older children who can help support his training and boundaries. If there is another dog in the home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit.

He’s not looking for perfection — just patient humans who understand that goofy, high-energy dogs sometimes need help learning how to channel their excitement appropriately. In return, Cheech will give you endless entertainment, loyalty, and love.

If you’re looking for a hilarious, affectionate, intelligent companion with tons of potential and a heart of gold, Cheech might just be your guy.
