Checkers

Checkers is a 2-year-old, 16 lb Pomeranian mix—possibly with a little Mini Aussie in the mix—and this handsome boy definitely has movie-star good looks! His beautiful tri-colored coat is highlighted with the most striking golden accents, giving him an especially eye-catching look.

Checkers is dog and cat friendly and would really benefit from a home with another friendly, confident dog to help him feel secure. He enjoys his walks, loves a good belly rub, and once he trusts you, he is a sweet and affectionate little companion.

Checkers is a sensitive boy who is very shy with new people, so meet-and-greets will need to be slow and patient. He won't be the dog who immediately runs into a stranger's lap—he needs time to observe, settle in, and build trust. He can also be nervous around young children, so a quieter adult home or one with older, respectful kids would be the best fit.

He's doing well with his potty routine but is still having an occasional accident. Keeping him on a consistent schedule—and making sure he finishes his business outside before heading back in—has been very helpful.

Checkers is looking for a patient family who won't rush him and will allow his confidence to blossom at his own pace. Another dog in the home would be a big plus. Give this gorgeous boy a little time to trust you, and you'll be rewarded with a loving, affectionate companion.

Checkers adoption fee is $600 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccines/deworming/flea treatment current.
