Charlotte's Story

Charlotte is a 3 yr old, 10lb, Shih Tzu that came to Underdog in desperate need of an emergency amputation after suffering from a massive infection and a leg that had been broken in two places. We may never know what she endured before she was rescued, but one thing is certain: her resilience is nothing short of incredible.

Despite everything she’s been through, Charlotte is pure love. She adores snuggles, soaks up affection, and has a fun and grateful spirit that melts your heart. In her foster home, she has been calm and easygoing with the other dogs, mostly choosing to ignore them. As she continues to heal, she’s beginning to show a little interest in play. Charlotte would do best with a mellow, older dog to help show her the ropes, or as the princess. She’s just starting to be slightly feisty, but she isn’t looking to keep up with a busy puppy—she’s looking to be cherished.

From day one, she impressed everyone by using puppy pads right most of the time. She likes to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air outside but definitely only goes on paper pee pads, so her adopter will need to realize she will most likely always only use pee pads. She is NOT housetrained but is pee pad trained. She will not do good in a condo/apartment setting as she is extremely vocal when her person goes out.

Charlotte now speeds around the house happily and confidently, proving every day that her missing leg doesn’t define her or slow her down one bit.

Charlotte’s dream home is one where she can be doted on 24/7—especially with someone who works from home and wants a constant, loving companion by their side or in their lap. She has so much love to give and asks for so little in return: safety, devotion, and a forever home where she will never be hurt or forgotten again.

We are looking for an AGE APPROPRIATE home that is ready for a 15 year commitment that can clean her eyes daily and keep her on a low cal diet, not one that she will end up needing to go to another home down the road. Charlotte is ready to give her whole heart to the people who give her the second chance at a fabulous life that she deserves.

Adoption $500

All UnderDogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. For consideration for one or more dogs, we require that an on-line application is filled out.

TO ADOPT THIS DOG PLEASE FILL OUT AN APPLICATION AT https://underdogrescueofflorida.com/. Look

Sorry, we do not adopt outside of Florida. Applicants are subject to a home visit, and veterinary references will be checked. Please include a vet reference (including phone number) when applying online.

Our application process:
FIRST, an application must be approved for adoption from our rescue.
SECOND, we determine whether the dog that has been applied for is a "good match" for the household that wants to adopt him/her. We take into consideration the dog's activity level, compatibility with other members of the household (human and other pets), etc.
If your application has been approved, but the dog you applied for is no longer available, please take the time and look over our adoptable dogs again. We will make every effort to find the right dog for an approved applicant.

We hope you agree and understand that our goal to find the best forever home is our #1 priority!
