Meet Charlotte

Hi, I'm Charlotte! Sometimes my foster family calls my Char Bear. I'm told I am a whippet mix and just over one year old. I had a really rough start to life as I was found abandoned on a property with my siblings. I am said to be a fighter with a strong will because I battled a case of parvovirus and just successfully finished my Heartworm treatment. If I didn't tell you all of that, you probably would have never known because of my happy go lucky spirit.

I love getting lots of attention and giving lots of kisses. And am working on this thing my humans call "personal space" (who needs that with me around anyways?!). I am house-trained and working on basic commands such as sit, stay, down, outside, and in (for my kennel). I am not a fan of the word "no", however I do listen and follow directions after giving some typical teenage attitude. I can't help it, its my age. I used to hate the kennel, but my foster siblings have helped me get more comfortable being there during the day while my people are away. If I am in the kennel for too long during the day then I might get bored so it's good if I have some things I am allowed to chew on. I am quickly learning proper house etiquette with lots of redirection and positive rewards. My foster mom has even started to let me sleep in a dog bed in her room! I am truly starting this freedom! It helps if I have some heavy duty chew toys for the times that I wake up at night. But, usually I sleep through the night.

I LOVE being outside sun bathing, splashing in the kiddie pool, and sometimes stomping around in muddy puddles when the rain rolls in. If you enjoy taking walks then I am the girl for you... I LOVE going for walks!!! My foster mom says that I would be great for family that loves outdoor things. Like most Whippets I am content with moderate exercise and enjoy short bursts of play. My friendly disposition makes me a good family pet, and I am good with kids, dogs, and even cats! I am going to make some special humans very lucky in my new forever home.

PLEASE READ BELOW:

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250

*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!

For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq
