Update: Charlie has really struggled to find his forever home. He has had more than one "trial adoption" that did not work out. But Charlie has matured since then. He still some "puppy like" behavior that needs reeled in but he listens well. He was evaluated by Affinity Canine, and Abbe said he is a very "soft" dog, so if he does get too excited, he listens to his person to settle down. We suggest the adopter sign up for an in-home session from our trainer to get Charlie on the right path right away. He is really smart and very sweet! But Charlie needs rules established from day one, like any young active dog. Charlie is having a blast in doggy daycare at Paws by the Lake. If you can't adopt but are interested in fostering Charlie, we will connect you with our trainer at our expense to work with him, so he has a better chance of being adoption ready. He is currently being boarded so in home training would be much better for Charlie. That would require a local foster within a 25 mile radius of Avon Lake for close location to the trainer. Love-A-Stray supplies everything needed for the foster program. Charlie was just groomed and he did great for his grooming!

Meet Charlie an Aussiedoodle, (DOB 05/01/23) 11 months old, 37 lbs. Charlie has an exuberant personality plus! He is one sweet dog. LAS had Charlie neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Charlie is silly (photo shown sitting in the toy bin HA!). Charlie is curious and likes to look out the window. He likes other dogs but will need boundaries set because it can't be Play Play all the time. Charlie participates in doggy daycare at Paws by the Lake to help with his energy level and he is doing great. Charlie is crate trained and housebroken and a perfect house dog. He knows basic commands but needs to work on jumping when meeting new people. We lowered his adoption fee so new owner will do at least 1 session with our trainer, Affinity Canine. His previous owner had toddlers and Charlie was just too much for them with his bouncy behavior, so he definitely needs to learn his manners!! He is very eager to please and learn. With Charlie’s breed mix, Australian Shepherd, he requires daily exercise and stimulation. A fenced in yard would be great for him to help with his energy level, he loves to play ball, but a fence is not required. If you do not have a fence, you need to be very active and have time to take Charlie on daily walks in all types of Ohio weather! Once he gets his required exercise, he is ready to snuggle!! He is really a GREAT dog!
