CHARLIE's Story

Meet Charlie!<br/><br/>This adorable little mini Dachshund has come an incredibly long way and is now searching for a very special home that understands that sometimes the sweetest hearts take a little extra time to bloom.<br/><br/>When Charlie came to us, he had experienced very little of the world. Basic experiences that many dogs take for granted simply were not part of his life. He had little exposure to handling, socialization, and everyday interactions. Since arriving in rescue, Charlie has been working hard learning that people can be safe, gentle, and kind.<br/><br/>Underneath that uncertainty lives an incredibly sweet little soul. Once Charlie feels comfortable and begins to trust you, you start to see his true personality shine through. He becomes playful, happy, snuggly, and full of those silly little Dachshund moments that make people fall in love with the breed. He absolutely loves running around a fenced yard, zooming with excitement, and enjoying life with his favorite friends.<br/><br/>Because of his background, Charlie needs an adopter who understands that trust is not built overnight. He is looking for someone patient, calm, and willing to let him move at his own pace. Charlie is not a "plug and play" dog and would not be a good fit for a first-time dog owner.<br/><br/>Dachshunds are known for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, funny, and full of personality, but they are also famously independent and stubborn little thinkers. They often form deep bonds with their people and thrive when given consistency, structure, and understanding.<br/><br/>Charlie and his best buddy Cooper share a very special bond. They play together constantly, help build confidence in one another, and genuinely seem happiest with each other nearby. We will consider separating them for the right home; however, we truly believe Charlie would do best either adopted with Cooper or placed into a home with another very friendly, confident, and understanding dog that can help provide comfort and guidance.<br/><br/>As an added bonus, if a family chooses to adopt both boys together, we will waive the adoption fee on one dog, meaning you can welcome two best friends home for the cost of one adoption fee.<br/><br/>For the right person, Charlie is going to be an incredibly rewarding companion. He simply needs someone willing to see beyond the nervous beginning and give him the patience and time he deserves. Hidden beneath those little legs and cute face is a sweet heart waiting for someone to show him that the world really can be a wonderful place. <br/><br/>Be sure to visit our Facebook page for additional pictures and updates on our rescues:<br/>Canine Partners Program Inc<br/><br/>Please note:<br/>We cannot guarantee breed or breed mix, as our information is often limited to what is observed or shared by a previous owner.<br/>Changes in environment may also affect behavior-so while we do our best to assess each dog, we cannot guarantee personality traits, temperament, or preferences.<br/><br/>All of our dogs are fully vetted, including:<br/> Spay or neuter<br/> Age-appropriate vaccinations<br/> Rabies vaccination<br/> Microchipping<br/> Heartworm and Lyme testing<br/> Deworming<br/> Flea and tick treatment<br/> Heartworm prevention<br/> Any other necessary medical care<br/><br/>Foster-to-adopt means the dog will live with you while completing any remaining veterinary care. Once completed, the adoption is finalized.<br/><br/>Each adoption includes a 6-week group obedience class (a $125 value).<br/><br/>If adopting a puppy under 6 months of age, we cover the cost of spay/neuter at the appropriate time.<br/><br/>Paws-in-Prison dogs are not available for adoption until they complete their training program. However, you may apply in advance to reserve your highly trained companion.<br/><br/>To apply or learn more about our adoption process, visit our website:<br/>https://caninepartnersprograminc.org/adoptables-%26-application<br/>Click the Adoption tab, review our process and requirements, then click on the dog's photo to access their bio and application.<br/><br/>Canine Partners Program Inc. - giving dogs a second chance at a happy life through rehabilitation.<br/>Thank you for considering adoption and for supporting our mission.

Canine Partners Program Inc's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS The Adoption Process will begin once the rescue has been spayed or neutered, given age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested, wormed, and flea treated. The rescue will have also received their own individual rehabilitation and obedience training. * An Adoption Application can be completed on this website. Please read our "Fine Print" page before completing the application. The questions are very extensive which assists us in providing the safest and most appropriate homes for our rescues. All questions must be answered and incomplete applications will NOT be reviewed. After you have submitted the application, a representative will contact you to discuss your application, answer any questions and possibly schedule a Meet n Greet. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment! Please do NOT submit an application unless everyone in the home is ready to adopt a pet. All family members must be committed to the care, training and attention your new pet will require. This includes a financial responsibility to provide vetting and routine care. * Meet n Greets are by appointment only and are scheduled by one of our representatives. All family members, including current pets, are required to come. This is your chance to spend a little time with the rescue and begin to learn about their personality. If the Meet n Greet is a success, a Home Inspection is then set up. * The Home Inspection is set up by a representative. They will come to your home to make sure you are ready for your new addition. They will look for safety hazards inside the home, check fencing, zip lines and tie outs etc. If changes are needed, they will guide you with advice on how to correct. When your home inspection passes then a Trial Run is set up. * A Trial Run is designed to help the rescue transition smoothly into your home. A representative will bring the rescue to your home and if it is determined that you have everything ready for your potential new family member, the rescue will stay with you on a trial basis. We require that the first 2-3 days of a Trial Run be strictly dedicated to the rescue. Please do not schedule any other obligations so your focus can be solely on helping him/her settle into your home and begin to learn your routine. We will send their food, a favorite toy, and a familiar article to help make their transition as seamless as possible. A Trial Run normally lasts 2-3 weeks. * If it is determined during the Trial Run that the rescue is a good fit for your family, a representative will make a follow-up visit and finalize the adoption. At this time, you will sign the Adoption Agreement and pay the adoption fee. It is mandatory that, by this visit, you have purchased a safe leash, an approved collar (martingale or buckle style) and a personal identification tag. Please know that adopting a rescue not only saves the life of that pet, it also allows us to save a 2nd life by opening another spot in our program.
