Charity's Story

CHARITY is a beautiful girl with long flowing hair! She is approximately 5 yrs of age, weighs about 20lbs and is believed to be a Long Haired Dachshund mix.
CHARITY was dumped in a farm field with her 10 month old puppy. Animal services was called and she was captured and brought to the shelter where she was terrified and deemed too fearful for general adoption so we pulled her from the shelter (and reunited her with her puppy that we caught because he ran away when Animal control captured and took his Mom away)
A few weeks after getting CHARITY out of the shelter, it became apparent she was pregnant, and she gave birth to puppies in December. She was a great Mom and very protective of her pups! Now that her pups are gone CHARITY'S personality is shining through and she is ready to find the perfect home of her own!

CHARITY is somewhat untrusting of strangers and needs slow introductions. Once she feels comfortable with you she is quite friendly and affectionate. She is a happy girl that has the cutest wiggle when she walks and watching her run through the grass can only bring a smile to your face!
Her long locks make her look like she is a show dog, so she requires daily brushing and regular visits to the groomer. She's not particularly fond of being brushed in certain places and will let you know. She is good in the bath though! She does shed, and is NOT hypoallergenic.
CHARITY is fine with other dogs but can be a bit dominant. She is fostered with both small and large dogs and loves running and chasing with the other dogs.
She does not like the cats in her foster home and will give chase to them, so she is not suitable for a home with cats.
CHARITY is housetrained with use of a doggie door.
CHARITY is crate trained but will also sleep quietly on a doggie bed....she does get warm easily so prefers not to have a lot of blankets.
CHARITY is good on leash and rides well in the car. She would make a great companion for someone who enjoys outings like trail walking, beach trips or even some short hiking adventures. She is always up for fun activities and has the energy to go! She is definitely not a couch potato!
CHARITY has no experience with children, and due to her fearful nature and some sensitivity to touch in certain areas, she is not suitable for a home with children. She is also very fearful and distrusting of men, so her ideal home will be with a single adult female who is looking for a fun loving companion.
A home with an attached yard is required

CHARITY'S adoption fee is $450 which includes health examination, current vaccinations, spay, microchip, flea and deworming treatment along with any other medical or dental deemed necessary by our veterinarian,

Rhodie's Rescue's Adoption Policy
WE DO NOT DO LONG DISTANCE (SOUTH CALIF) OR OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS You must be 21 years or older to adopt. Please bring a valid form of I.D. All members of the family must be present in order to adopt. We want to make sure it's a good fit for everyone! Applications must be completed and approved for each dog prior to adopting. We do not adopt our dogs on a “first come, first serve” basis. We place our dogs with the best matched family according to their specific needs and personalities. You must provide pictures of your backyard (including fences, gates and latches) along with the areas will the dog will eat and sleep. Some dogs may require a home visit prior to adoption. If you are planning on adopting a dog and already have an existing dog, we ask that you leave them at home when attending our adoption event. Once you're application has been approved to adopt a specific dog, you can schedule an appointment for a meet and greet at your home with your potential new pet. Renters must provide a copy of their lease (including pet policy) and duration of lease. Homeowners should know if their home insurance policy has breed restrictions/exclusions, and be familiar with any HOA by-laws regarding dogs. Townhome/Condominium owners should be familiar with their HOA by-laws, including restricted breeds, weight limits, and maximum number of pets allowed. All dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped prior to adoption. We make our best effort to treat any medical conditions deemed necessary, unless it is out of our financial reach or not in the best interest of the dog at the time. At which point we will disclose and discuss any known medical issues or conditions that will need to be addressed with the potential adopter prior to adoption. Most of our dogs are rescued from shelters or neglectful situations and we have either limited or no knowledge of their health background or behavioral background. Although we have our dogs checked by veterinarians, and we do our best to evaluate and determine any behavioral issues, we cannot guarantee the dog you adopt will be free of any current or future health or behavioral problems. Adopters must be willing to allow a Rhodie’s representative to make a follow-up contact, either in person or by phone. If at any time you are unable to keep the pet or offer it proper care, it must be offered back to Rhodie’s before alternate arrangements are made. If approved, an applicant must sign a contract to adopt a dog which outlines the responsibilities of the rescue and the adopter. This contract is legally binding. If any information provided by the adopter is found to be false, misleading or purposefully omitted, on either the application or during interview with Rhodie’s Representatives, will be cause for denial of adoption and/or removal of the dog from your home, regardless of when or how the information was discovered.
