DOB 5/30/18 WEIGHT: approx. 8 lbs.

MY STORY: Chanel has spent her life at a breeding farm producing puppies. She has never lived in a home until being fostered. Read about her progress over the last few months!

“When Chanel first came, we could not handle her, she did not know human touch to be comforting and only knew to defend herself out of fear. She peed when we picked her up, ran off if we even looked at her.

Fast forward a few months, she is slowing down on the running from us, still jumps a bit. But once we pick her up, no peeing, no defense. We've learned it's safe to hold and pet. She'll walk up to you and tap your leg when you're not looking. There are certain areas that are still sensitive. She has learned she can stay on a bed and lay down. She enjoys dog beds now instead of the hard crate.

She went from not one sound to barking at strangers, doorbells, and when she wants something and you're not paying attention, like water, a treat, or it's dinner time, or potty time. She's very vocal, the different playful growls, whisper barks, even howling at times.

She has bonded slowly with each of us and although we're not cuddle buddies yet, she has to be in the same space where we are. Otherwise she'll let you know she's displeased.

She likes chewing and we've discovered she loves chew treats and chewing little things. She loves strawberries, carrots, apples as treats. When the chopping board comes out, she is present and punctual.

She will do well in a home who will understand she will need more time to open up. That she will need space and is not the jump on the couch and bed dog. She's so curious and one day she'll open up fully, but it'll take time. She can happily have a dog or cat sibling as she doesn't mind them.

She will do well in a home that doesn't leave for too long or a work from home family as she has potty windows of 4 hours or so. She's not fully potty trained either especially in free run spaces.”
~Chloe, foster mom

Chanel is in a foster home with a dog, cat and child. Another small dog in her home with a fenced yard would be helpful. She would also do well with a cat as she lives nicely with a cat in her foster home. She is starting to play with the resident dog! That’s new!! Therefore, another yorkie or small dog would be great!

Check out Chanel's blog by copying and pasting the site below: https://fosteringchanel.blogspot.com/

Please read our Breeder Release article on our Resources page prior to applying.

ADOPTION FEE: $550

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.

Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
WI License #270548.

Check out Fluffy Dog Wellness on our Home Page.
