Chance's Story

This precious senior boy was found in the middle of the road in rural eastern Kentucky. He was picked up by some good samaritans and we just couldn't not help. We named him Chance and he was taken to the vet clinic to be scanned for a microchip, got all checked over, and was held for a few days of stray hold. Chance has since received all of his needed vetting, which of course was everything including being neutered and microchipped. He was full of intestinal parasites (hookworm) so was dewormed. His bloodwork looked pretty good for an older guy. UPDATE 3/13...Chance spent some time at the clinic and we got to know him a little bit. We know that he did not like to have his ears or paws messed with but he doesn't mind it now that he is feeling better and out of the clinic. He may have a little bit of older Boxer hearing issues. He may also not have the best eyesight either but he gets around pretty good. We have estimated him at 9-10ish years old. 3/15 UPDATE FROM CHANCE'S FOSTER MOM: Chance is now at his temporary foster home in Indianapolis. He loves all the delightful smells of a home shared with another dog & spends a lot of time happily sniffing every inch of the yard. He's curious about the cat too, but the cat won't hold still long enough to be smelled, so it's a work in progress. He's happy & curious to sniff visitors when they come. Crate trained. Walks easily on a leash. Climbs stairs with ease. Not tested with kids yet. He's one of those 'Velcro dogs' that likes to always be in the same room as his human, although he also goes outside easily when it's time to potty. Chance has a laid back, mellow, low-energy personality that is perfect for someone who has a similar personality. Are you the one?

4/1 UPDATE FROM CHANCE'S FOSTER MOM: Chance tells me when he needs to potty by standing at the door. He's such a good boy. Chance showed me he already knows how to sit! When I said SIT & showed him his daily glucosamine chewy, he immediately plopped his butt down big as you please! I'm looking forward to discovering what other commands he knows. By the way, he takes treats from your fingers with the most gentlemanly nibble...so polite.
