Chance's owner in Waverly, Iowa can no longer keep him so hhe is a Waverly Pet Rescue dog now. He is now up to date on shots, tested heartworm negative, and was already neutered. He is living in a foster home.

Chance is about 2-1/2 years old and weighs 76 pounds as of August 2023. Chance is fully house trained. He knows his commands. He is a child at heart so he loves to play. He is still a puppy personality and has tons of energy. Chance loves to sled in the winter and play in the water during summer. He is stubborn so consistently is key. Chance does great with other dogs, cats, and older children. Fenced in yard is required for chance to keep him safe.

After a vet checkup, Chance moved into a foster home with 3 other dogs and 5 cats. It took him a few days to get acclimated and relax but he is doing great. He gets along well with the other dogs. He doesn't show any obvious signs of being defensive or aggressive over food or toys. He enjoys playing tug with the other dogs, though he is rough on squeaky toys.

He has ALOT of energy and strength, so he would be best with a family with another dog around his side, and kids over 10. Not to say that he is rough with kids, it's just his energy and size he could unintentionally knock over a younger kid, and he gets a little 'mouthy' when he gets excited.

He is fully potty trained, knows commands, and learns fast. We have had a couple of disagreements between him and our other dogs, and they only lasted a second or two and he quickly knew he was in the wrong.

Chance is an awesome dog and would make a great best friend!

12/1/23 UPDATE: Chance continues to do well in the foster home.
He occasionally tries to get into the garbage to take a paper plate and chew it up (not eat it.. just chew on it)... We've also had an issue of him stealing food off the counter when we're not in the room, but remembering to keep it out of reach solves that. Other than that, he continues to be a great dog. He usually sleeps with us in bed, but sometimes he sleeps on the couch in the living room and is content either way.

9/10/23 UPDATE: The foster mom and dad to Chance did a DNA test on Chance! Here's his results!

Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
