Chance's Story
REQUIREMENTS: Must have a secure fenced yard. Another young playful dog required. Adoption applications will be reviewed for Chatham Kent, Sarnia and Windsor areas.

Adoption application on our website (DO NOT FILL OUT ON PETFINDER) - www.ckanimalrescue.com

DATE OF BIRTH: November 2025

Chance is a friendly, affectionate, high-energy boy who loves attention, giving kisses, and being involved in everything you do! He loves squeaky toys, playing fetch and tug-of-war, and can play for hours. He also loves going for walks, walks great on a leash, and enjoys car rides where he can watch the world go by.

Chance absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with another playful dog of similar age and energy level. He loves to play and would benefit from having a friend who can keep up with him. He currently lives with a cat and enjoys playing with her, too! However, he tends to chase her because he assumes she always wants to play. He is learning to respect her space and responds well when called away. No aggression toward other animals has been observed. He has not yet been exposed to children.

Chance loves being near his people and will happily follow you everywhere (including the bathroom!). He sleeps in bed with his foster family and would do best in a home where he can sleep with his people rather than alone.

Chance is still learning and will need a patient, understanding owner. He is working on house-training and occasionally has accidents while learning to communicate when he needs to go outside. He also experiences separation anxiety and may cry loudly or bark when he knows his people are home but cannot reach them. He does better when he sees his people physically leave the house and is not destructive when left alone, although he may vocalize for a while. A flexible schedule and someone who can gradually help him become more comfortable alone would be ideal. At this stage, he should not be left alone for more than about three hours at a time.

Chance can also be protective of his toys. Once he has a toy, he considers it his and may search for it until redirected. He sometimes growls if someone tries to take a toy away during play, so he will need continued guidance with toy-sharing and positive training around trading toys. He gets very excited during playtime and sometimes needs reminders to take breaks, especially with squeaky toys, which he loves to play with until they are destroyed!

Chance has not lived with children, so his compatibility with them is unknown, although he is playful and friendly with people. He is a healthy boy and no medical issues have been observed by his foster family.

Chance's ideal home would have a nice backyard where he can run and burn off energy, another playful dog, and an active, loving family with the time and patience to help him continue learning. In return, you'll get a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your days with kisses, playtime, and plenty of love!

Adoption application on our website (DO NOT FILL OUT ON PETFINDER) - www.ckanimalrescue.com

Adoption Fee - $600
