Cedric! Senior, Sheppy Boy! German Shepherd Dog Meriden, CT

**German Shepherd or similar working breed experience preferred!**

Meet our very sweet, senior German Shepherd named Cedric! He is about 11 years old and has some typical senior dog issues. Cedric came to us after he was found roaming in town. As you can see from his pictures, he came to us very underweight. His pictures do make him look smaller in size than he is, but Cedric is a large dog who does need to gain a significant amount of weight. He did have a blood panel run, which came back normal. He is also free of parasites and negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases. Cedric is a very friendly boy who is extremely ball driven and food motivated. He does have arthritis and his hips are on the weaker side. He will need a home that can give him enough attention and take extra care with his arthritis.
Cedric gets along with other dogs, but he should not go to a home with rambunctious dogs who will jump on his back and potentially injure him. Cedric seems to be fine with cats. He is very friendly with people and would love to have a retirement home where he can finally relax! Cedric can go to a home with children 12 years old and older. You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal.
Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal.

ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME.
