Cecilia's Story

Cecilia "Cece" is a sweet, spunky little Frenchie mix with the cutest pep in her step and a personality that truly blossoms once she feels safe and loved. She is estimated to be 2-3 years old and weighs about 25 lbs. She was found on a city street and was never reclaimed.

When she first arrived to a foster home, she was a bit unsure of herself but it didn't take long for her playful, affectionate side to shine. She adapted quickly to a household routine. During her time in foster care, Cece has lived successfully with two other rescue French Bulldogs and a 90-pound Cane Corso. She is respectful, social, and fit right into the pack. She has a naturally submissive personality, which helped her get along beautifully with both larger and more confident dogs. She is also wonderful with the three-year-old child in the home-- always gentle, never rough, and very respectful of his space.

Cece has a front limb varus deformity, which means her front legs are not perfectly aligned. Because of this, she distributes her weight differently than a typical dog, which can place additional strain on her wrists, elbows, and shoulders over time. Based on her condition when she entered rescue, we suspect she may have spent a significant amount of time confined before coming into foster care. Like many dogs with limited opportunities for exercise, she appeared to have some weakness and loss of muscle tone. Building strength through appropriate activity can help support her joints and improve her overall mobility.

Cece does not let any physical differences slow her down and she enjoys being active with her family. Maintaining a healthy weight, providing regular low-impact exercise, and avoiding excessive strain will be important to keeping her comfortable long-term. To help protect her joints, her future family should discourage repeated jumping on and off furniture and beds and consider using pet stairs or ramps where appropriate. As with many dogs who have orthopedic differences, she may be more prone to arthritis as she ages and will benefit from a family committed to helping her stay fit, strong, and healthy.

Like all French Bulldogs, Cece will need a family that understands breed-specific heat precautions. During Georgia's hot summer months, she will do best with early morning or evening outings and plenty of indoor play, enrichment, and family time when temperatures rise. During the hottest months of June, July, and August, indoor recreation is often a safer choice than extended outdoor activity.

Overall, Cece is a happy, healthy young dog who passed all of her vetting with flying colors and has a bright future ahead of her. She loves being part of a family and is the kind of dog who will reward you with endless love, loyalty, and plenty of smiles!

********************
Cecilia's adoption fee is $500. She will come to you already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and with a negative fecal screening.

Preference is given to applicants located within the metro Atlanta area. Applications from outside this area may be considered under certain circumstances.
