Catalina's Story
If you’re looking for a fun, playful buddy to bring some life into your home, Catalina is your girl!

At just 1 year old, Catalina is a spunky, joyful girl with a huge personality. Once she settles in, she is truly a ball of excitement and happiness who loves to play, explore, and take her time enjoying a good “sniffari.”

Catalina can be a little wary of new people at first, but once she feels comfortable, her silly and affectionate personality comes shining through.

She is doing wonderfully with house training and has had zero accidents indoors, so we are happy to say she is house trained! She doesn’t necessarily alert when she needs to go out yet, so maintaining a consistent potty schedule will still be helpful as she transitions into a new home.

Catalina absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play with. Because she is still learning how to manage her excitement, she would do best with dogs around her size or larger. She can be very enthusiastic during play and may pounce on smaller dogs when she gets excited, so a home with very small dogs may not be the best match at this stage.

She is incredibly smart and is already beginning to learn her manners. Her biggest area of continued training will be learning not to jump on people, furniture, or anything else that catches her attention! The good news is that she is eager to learn and responds very well to redirection and praise. She isn’t particularly treat-motivated, but positive attention goes a long way with her.

Catalina would thrive with a family that appreciates an energetic, playful dog and is willing to continue helping her polish her manners. She would make a wonderful adventure buddy, playmate, and companion for someone looking for a dog with lots of personality.

Catalina has not always had the easy life she deserves. She spent the majority of her life living on a chain in Texas and was eventually surrendered after neighbors repeatedly expressed concern about the conditions she was being kept in. Now she is getting the chance to experience life as a loved indoor dog and is doing wonderfully.

If you are interested in adopting Catalina, please complete an application here:

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PDAR/Dog

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters or directly from difficult situations in South Texas, where stray and unwanted animals are incredibly common. Your adoption fee helps cover the significant costs required to bring these dogs to safety.

Paws Deep Animal Rescue is a registered nonprofit rescue. Any funds received beyond an individual animal’s expenses go directly toward caring for other animals in our rescue, including those with significant medical needs whose adoption fees may not come close to covering the cost of their care.

Your adoption fee helps cover:

• Transport: Safe transportation from Texas to our local foster homes. Transport alone typically costs approximately $200–$230 per dog.

• Vetting & Preventive Care: Spay or neuter surgery when age appropriate, core vaccinations, deworming, heartworm testing when old enough, and microchipping.

• VCA Medical Partnership: Every adoption includes a complimentary first wellness exam at a participating VCA Animal Hospital within the first 14 days after adoption. VCA also provides limited coverage of up to $250 for certain minor illnesses, such as kennel cough or ear infections, diagnosed during that initial two-week period.

Important Rescue Policies

No Foster-to-Adopt Program: We do not offer foster-to-adopt placements. Most of our dogs are already settled into loving foster homes, and we try to minimize unnecessary moves for their emotional well-being. Our rescue insurance policy also prohibits foster-to-adopt arrangements.

Breed and Size Estimates: We cannot guarantee the breed mix or adult size of any dog in our care. Listed breeds are our best estimates based on physical appearance and available history. Because our dogs are rescues with unknown backgrounds, we also cannot guarantee that a dog does not have pit bull or another breed somewhere in their lineage.

Stay Connected!

For rescue updates, happy tails, and our latest adoptable animals, follow us on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/share/1bU6vX89Wh/?mibextid=wwXIfr
