Cartier's Story

● Name: Cartier, Cardi B
● Age / Size: ~1 years old, 40-50 lbs, lean
● Rescued in Texas

💙 Foster Note

What I love most about Cartier is his joy and energy for life. He is very high energy as expected as he is a puppy, but is highly adaptable and matches your energy levels. He is the perfect partner for long walks but also does well on rainy days when you need to stay at home. He really surprised me with how calm and gentle he is when at home - he is very cuddly, immediately cozying up to you on the sofa and asking for belly rubs. At the same time, he is very content playing by himself on his bed with his toys. He loves anything he can really chew on - rubber especially. He is very gentle with furniture and knows boundaries you set, if certain areas are off limits.

Overall I feel so inspired by Cartier. He was my first foster after losing my senior golden retriever a few months ago, and I was nervous about caring for such a young dog and an energetic breed. He surprised me with how he seemingly instantly adapted to his new NYC lifestyle, and truly how joyful and carefree he is despite the dramatic changes he has faced so early in his life. Cartier inspires me to be more resilient and anyone would be lucky to have him as an addition in their family.

He is incredibly gentle and sweet at home - he seems to have a sixth sense ability to match the energy of whoever he is interacting with. For example, he plays pretty rough with other big dogs at the dog run, but then is so incredible, gentle, deferential and sweet at home with me. I was so surprised when he immediately leapt onto the couch with me and asked me for belly rubs. He seems very smart and trainable - he is already familiar with “sit” and I am training him to sit and wait for food, and sit and wait to be leashed and have his paws cleaned when he comes home. He can be mouthy when he plays but again he is very gentle and knows his limits (and responds well to No if you feel he pushed past your limits). He's just a very good boy.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Cartier, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
