Carly's Story
Carly is a very sweet dog who enjoys walks on leash, meeting other dogs and chasing squirrels! A definite lap dog as well.

Carly was transferred to Valley Humane on 9/14 from Stockton Animal Services. She had been found stray. Carly weighs 9.84 pounds and is a young adult dog (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years).

Carly may have a disease called canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC), more commonly known as kennel cough. This is not a specific disease, but rather a group of diseases that all cause coughing. Several different infectious agents, including various viruses and bacteria (or in combination) can cause CIRDC. Once infected, the dog typically develops a dry hacking cough that can last for several weeks. In very rare cases, kennel cough can progress to pneumonia (characterized by poor appetite, fever, lethargy), but this is unusual. CIRDC can be spread through the air and is infectious to other dogs. This dog is currently being treated with antibiotics and her symptoms have improved prior to becoming available for adoption. We anticipate her cough to slowly improve over the next few weeks. Contact with other dogs should be avoided during this time.

Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption?
