Captain Cap's Story

This is a courtesy post; A.S.K. is pre-screening the adopter.

Summary details (don't apply if you don't meet most of these requirements):

The family wants: a large fenced yard, an active family (and older kids are a bonus), and a male as the primary caretaker. They feel strongly that Cap bonds to males moreso than females. Another playful dog would be great--of similar size.

This is Cap, He is a 2 year old neutered male blood hound. He would love a male owner with dog training experience. He has 0 prey drive or aggression. He should be in a home with larger older kids, as he does not know his strength. He absolutely does not love his nails being clipped and you have to scratch his ribs while someone does it.

He needs a fenced yard. He would do good with dogs his size, absolutely no small dogs.

He loves walks, tug toys and bones. He would love an active owner who understands his strength and needs. He would love someone who doesn't mind some slobber. He must be kenneled when you are not around because he will chew items. He loves a nature trail, and he is all about having a good run.

Cap has 0 prey drive. But he could potentially hurt smaller animals because he will try to play.

Needs a dog of similar size and age to play with.

Cats are OK. Per his family: my cats rub their butts on his face and he does nothing.

He normally wants to chew remotes. Never soft items. But he's young and needs to be managed for his own safety in terms of chewing.

A couple would be good. But he is a man's dog. That's just part of who he is. He loves children so a family with older kids would be ideal. Kids 13yrs+ recommended due to his size.

Lots of slobber. You have to learn to accept it.

He is allergic to chicken products he will yeast up and smell awful and he will get skin issues.

He eats purina one wild instinct venison turkey. He is a picky eater and it's the only one that works. Fortunately it's affordable.
