Campbell (Cammie)'s Story
Update: We thought we had found the perfect home for Campbell, but it wasn't meant to be. Cammie is back with us through no fault of her own...

Zoe's House is looking for a very special adopter for a sweet girl who just can't catch a break. Please read the description carefully before applying!

Campbell is a one year old female Golden Retriever who came into rescue as a 12 week old puppy who was leaking urine. Fast forward through six rounds of antibiotics for a persistent UTI. Appointments with five different specialty vets. Two ultrasounds and a complicated surgery for ectopic ureters. A cardio consult that diagnosed mitral valve dysplasia and moderate subaortic stenosis (treated through a daily medication). A total of 8 separate blood tests and 14 urinalyses across almost 9 months.

Whatever she needed, Zoe's House did. Her medical reports and test results fill a three ring binder. We've tried to identify and fix as many as we can...

Except the most difficult diagnosis - chronic kidney disease.

This is hereditary and there is no cure, but there are established treatments that include prescription food and medications that can manage her symptoms. While this disease will probably shorten her life span, the treatments available can give her a very good quality of life.

And Campbell so deserves that.

Throughout everything, Campbell has remained her happy, bouncy, cheerful self. Throw her a ball and she'd bring it back. Throw it again, and off she'll go. Tireless. Excited. Happy. Each throw is a new chase. Guaranteed to keep going long after your arm has given out.

We are looking for a special adopter for Campbell who isn't daunted by her diagnosis and who is ready to give her the best possible life for as long as possible. While financial resources are a piece of that, the equally important need is for someone who can give her an active lifestyle (a fenced yard and lots of balls are a must!) and the joys of being part of a household.

Campbell is currently living with other dogs of all ages and sizes as well as cats. She loves food, running, spending time outside, chasing balls, car rides, snuggles, and hanging with her friends (both two-footed and four-footed). She doesn't like too much crate time and hates not getting enough exercise. She is fully vetted and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. She sleeps in her crate at night. GIven her energy level, kids over 7 years old are recommended. Someone home alot to give her frequent potty breaks and exercise time would be ideal.

Application available at www.zoeshouserescue.com

Kennel license 9117
Reading PA 19608

This is hereditary and there is no cure, but there are established treatments that include prescription food and medications that can manage her symptoms. While this disease will probably shorten her life span, the treatments available can give her a very good quality of life.
And Campbell so deserves that.
Throughout everything, Campbell has remained her happy
