Camden! Cammy! Cam! he's been with us so long we have many other loving nicknames for him too... This precious 4-5 yr old American Bulldog has been in the shelter system since June of 2024. Camden is the kind of dog who will greet you every morning like you’re his hero and happily snooze at your feet while you work, watch TV, or just hang out. He’s a complete buddy, through and through. He’s also down for a good hike, a game of fetch, or a lazy lounging session—equal parts adventure and chill.<br/><br/>Now, Camden isn’t for just anyone, and that’s okay. He’s looking for a special someone who understands dogs, provides structure, and sets clear boundaries for him to follow. He thrives with someone assertive (not aggressive), confident (not pushy), and not a pushover. He needs a leader, not a roommate. Camden has already learned great communication skills, and we’ll help you continue that training so you and he can stay on the same page.<br/><br/>Camden would be happiest as your one-and-only pup, though he’s had good experiences with some female dogs. As for kids and cats, it depends. With strong leadership, consistency, and supervision, Camden can adapt well. But he’s not a fit for a free-for-all household. No dog parks, no chaos—he’s more of a “close-knit dinner party” guy than a “festival crowd” one.<br/><br/>When it comes to strangers, Camden prefers slow, respectful introductions. He may bark or lunge if someone unfamiliar gets too close too fast—he takes his job as family protector seriously. But once he trusts you? He’s all heart. With the right person, Camden will continue to shine. He’s got all the makings of a dream dog—just add structure, patience, and a good sense of humor.<br/><br/>Interested in meeting Camden? Then you can spend all the time you like with this loyal, goofy, protective, big-hearted boy and see if you’re the partner he’s been waiting for.<br/><br/>Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our dogs. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a dog. If you have a dog at home, a meet-and-greet will be scheduled for the second visit. We offer a free session with our trainer, Canine Cooperative, once an adoption is finalized.<br/> <br/>Our adoption fee is $150 for dogs. This includes heartworm and Lyme testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older.
