Meet Butch

Hi, I'm Butch and I'm a very handsome boy. I'm also a big guy. I'm about 90-100 lbs and I'm probably about 5 years old.

I'm potty trained and fully vetted. And I'm a big lug most of the time. I like to chill and relax. And I'm a total love. I want to be with my person as much as possible.

I was found as a stray in 8/2020 and then found a fantastic home. But I started to become protective of my new family. The family can no longer keep me. I live with kids right now and they want to have friends over. A trainer told my mom and dad that it is probably not safe for them to keep me since they have an active household. Everyone is heart broken over it.

Here's what my dad says about me, "Rufus is a loveable five year old purebred bloodhound. He quickly settled into our family after we rescued him last September.

However, we believe he is best suited for an owner / family that does not have young children or other dogs as he has a protective streak around the house / family.

While we have had a few limited incidents, none with our children, we think it will be best for him to be with an owner / family with a large yard that will allow him the room to roam and sunbathe (a favorite). He is a sweetheart, who settles in watching Netflix at night and loves to go on walks and find every fox in Northern Virginia.

We have worked with trainers and therapists over the last seven months, but he does have an aggression issue around the door and strangers (to him) in the house. With young children and family / friends often in the house, we believe another situation will be safer and less stressful for him."

My dad loves me and I love him so much. But now I'm in a real pickle. I need to find a new home or sanctuary. If I'm turned over to a shelter, they will kill me. The lady who initially fostered me, loves me and wants to find a good place for me to live out the rest of my life. But I'm running out of options. My days are numbered unless I can find a safe place to go.

I will have to be an only dog and only pet. The best home for me would be one with just one or 2 adult humans who have bloodhound experience and a quiet home and one that does not have many people coming and going. Also, it would be better if I'm not in an urban environment.

If you think you can help, please contact dmmarson@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

Butch
