Buster's Story

Buster is about 1.5 years old, around 40 pounds, and so incredibly ready to find the family he has been waiting for.

Found dumped in a recycling area with his sister as a tiny puppy, Buster's story could have gone very differently. Instead, he has grown into a gentle, loving, and quietly joyful boy who greets the world with a soft heart and hopeful eyes. Every day he shows us just how resilient and special he truly is.

He is fully vetted, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and already house trained, which means he is more than ready to transition smoothly into his forever home. Buster is both dog and cat approved and truly comes alive when he has animal friends around him. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and at least one other playful dog to help continue building his confidence and bring out his silly, happy side. If your pup has been wishing for a best friend, Buster might be the perfect match.

Buster can take a little extra time to warm up to men, but with patience, kindness, and a gentle approach, he builds incredibly strong and loyal bonds. Once he trusts you, he is all in. He is still growing into his confidence, but in the right home filled with love, encouragement, and consistency, this boy absolutely blossoms.

He loves toys, enjoys running and exploring the yard, and has a playful spark that shines brighter every day. After he gets his energy out, he is more than happy to settle in close, soak up affection, and enjoy some quiet cuddle time with his people. He is smart, eager to learn, and has all the makings of an incredibly devoted lifelong companion.

Buster has been patiently waiting for someone to see the beautiful soul he is. The family who gives him his chance is going to gain a deeply loving, loyal, and very special best friend.

If you are ready to welcome Buster into your heart and home furever, please apply at

www.compassionkind.org/adopt

Compassion Kind's Adoption Policy
Compassion Kind is a 501c3 global humanitarian and animal welfare organization inspiring global citizens to extend their circle of compassion to all kind. We work with partners and volunteers on the ground in Puerto Rico to educate and reduce the suffering of animals due to natural disasters and the ongoing stray problem. A majority of our cats and dogs are from Puerto Rico, but we do take in occasional local owner surrenders as well. Once our animals are taken into our care, we assess their needs and how we can provide the best care and forever home for them. We begin their vetting process while in Puerto Rico and finish after they are flown and placed in foster care in Florida. All animals' vetting is completed by the time of adoption. During our foster process, we continue to analyze their behaviors and needs to help us find the best fit for them. Once we begin taking applications for each animal, we begin our screening process to see how each candidate may fit the specific animals needs. We then choose 2-3 potential candidates, as we don't want to overwhelm the cat or dog, for a meet and greet. Our meet and greets help the potential adopter and pet see if they are a great match! If the meet and greet goes very well, the potential candidate may move into our one week home trial. During the home trial, we do a home visit and check in to make sure that the dog or cat is adjusting well. At the end of the trial, if it is the perfect match, we move into adoption in which their individual adoption fee is paid and we transfer all records and paperwork to the adopter. Our animals are so important to us; we work hard to save them and we owe it to them to find the best life for them. We love to keep in touch with all of our adopters so we can continue to watch our cats and dogs flourish!
