A trainer who evaluated Burnie believes he has every opportunity to become an outstanding companion with consistency, patience, and ongoing structure.<br/><br/>Meet Burnie. <br/>Burnie is a 9 month old [Staffordshire Terrier] currently fostering in New England.<br/><br/>Burnie is a real sweetheart, and a GREAT house dog.He's playful, smart, crate trained, and has never destroyed anything that wasn't his. (Except tissues...he loves chewing those : )<br/>He's VERY food motivated - which helps with training. But...watch out...he would be a counter surfer if you let him!<br/><br/>He is exceptionally affectionate. He loves being on your lap, and sleeping by your side. He enjoys to learn, and picks up on new things very quickly. (He learned "back up" in about 5 minutes.) He knows "wait", "sit", "come" and is working on "down".He has an exceptional good nose, and would likely be good with scent work.<br/><br/>This boy will do best with an experienced bully breed owner who understands confident, energetic dogs and is committed to continuing his training. Burnie's is he's very reactive with other dogs. He's been assessed by a behaviorist who believes he never really learned proper "dog language". He's been working on that in his foster home, and making progress. The right harness and some other tools have really helped. He needs someone willing to continue working with him. <br/><br/>He needs to be the only animal in a home, and with adults and older children (10 years or older) Also, in a neighborhood without too much commotion and too many other dogs constantly going by.
