Meet Buoy - a gentle giant learning to trust! <br/>Buoy is a 1 year old male Doberman/Labrador mix weighing in at 84lbs of quiet sweetness. Underneath his shy and timid nature is a big hearted boy who just needs the right person to show him the world isn't scary!<br/>Arriving at the shelter the day after his birthday has been overwhelming for Buoy, and he's still trying to find his footing in an unfamiliar environment. Because of this, he may come off reserved at first through his kennel - but once outside you see a playful, goofy, loving, and happy boy that wants to be a part of the story!<br/>Buoy was surrendered alongside his mother, Stella. He grew up around other dogs and cats, and did well with them. He has never been around kids, however, so we will be requiring he meet all children in the home prior to adoption to make sure they get along.<br/>Buoy has spent his whole life previously outdoors, so he is not yet housebroken and will need training as he transitions to an indoor home. He's looking for an active, and understanding home that is dedicated to provide him with the consistency, structure, and reassurance he needs. At the shelter is such a large adjustment from what he's used to, Buoy is going to need time to fully settle in. He has never been aggressive with us at all, but he tends to shut down when he gets too stressed. Once you get him outside and out of the loud kennel environment he is like a whole new dog, and that is when you see his goofy and playful side shine!<br/>Due to his large size, we recommend an adopter who is experienced with large breeds and confident in handling his strength. Buoy isn't just a big dog - he's a sensitive soul who will thrive in a stable dog friendly/ loving home where he can feel safe and supported. With the right person by his side, Buoy has all the potential to grow into the loyal, loving companion we know he can be.
