Because Buford, big squishy softie that he is, is very much looking for HIS person.<br/><br/>Buford is what we lovingly call a Velcro dog. A dog who absolutely, positively, with his whole bulldog heart, wants to be near his people as much as possible. On the couch? Buford would like to be there. In the kitchen? Buford is available for moral support. Working from home? He is prepared to supervise, ideally while sitting on your feet. Going to a dog-friendly office? He would like to submit his résumé.<br/><br/>Because of that, Buford would do best in a home where his family is home most of the time, or where he can go along for the ride. He does have some anxiety when left alone, but he has improved considerably in foster care. His foster parents have been working with him patiently and will pass along all their techniques and tips to help his new family keep building on his progress.<br/><br/>Buford is good with some other dogs, though it should be noted that he needs to be fed separately, and sharing toys is sometimes an issue. He has a velvety soft head and ears that are impossible not to pet, plus an adorable underbite that gives him the most irresistible little TEEFS. Like all proper squishy-faced gentlemen, he still needs his face wrinkles and tail pocket cleaned regularly, but he handles his care well and is learning that the spa life has its perks.<br/><br/>Because he is smart and food-motivated, Buford is easy to train. He knows how to ring a bell to ask to go outside to potty, though he is not 100% consistent with that yet. He is eager, affectionate, tuned in, and very interested in being told he is a good boy, especially if snacks are involved.<br/><br/>Buford is low to medium energy, with sweet, gentle, puppyish vibes. He is still very much a baby dog in a beefy little bulldog body, learning about the world one new experience at a time. He will need people who can help him continue to socialize, explore, and experience new things safely and positively.<br/><br/>Buford would do fine in a home with a cat. He is curious but respectful, and he redirects quickly with a word from a person or a hiss from a cat. Since he bonds so strongly to his people, he would likely do best as an only dog or with an older, calm dog who can help show him the ropes without competing for center stage.<br/><br/>Buford would do best in a home with children ages 16 and older. His young, puppyish energy and excitement can sometimes be a lot, so older children who understand boundaries and can give him the space and guidance he needs will be the best fit.<br/><br/>Buford is looking for a home that understands his big heart comes with a big need for closeness. He is not a dog who wants to be left on the sidelines. He wants to be part of your day, your routine, your errands, your couch time, and your life.<br/><br/>In return, he will give you devotion, comedy, snuggles, soft green-eyed stares, and the kind of full-body bulldog love that makes every day a little better.
