Meet Buffy
Buffy is a super sweet girl who wants to love and be loved. She is both full of energy and loves to take lots of down time.
She is roughly 2.5 years old and 46 pounds as of June 1st. She is chatty like any other husky, but so far almost only when she knows we are about to go for a walk or if she sees a friend walking by in the yard (or if foster mom and dad try to sleep in later than normal). Her howls are relatively quiet and very adorable.
She absolutely loves her 65-pound shepherd mix foster sister. She gets along with the neighborhood dogs too but is often overly excited to greet them. She is, however, doing well on leash training and is learning the command “with me,” to not to be too excited around other dogs, or pull too much. She also knows sit and down (especially if peanut butter is involved), but she forgets that she is supposed to listen even when she is outside sometimes! When everyone settles down for the night, she likes to sit up against her humans for a bit.
Her previous foster could not keep her as she does not get along with cats, and they told us she does not do well when crated either. She does get into trouble when left alone sometimes, but we are learning boundaries quickly, and she does better with lots of exercise!

Hollywood Huskies rescue is a nonprofit 501c3 based in Los Angeles, however, some of our dogs are available in Virginia. There is a huge husky crisis in Los Angeles with literally hundreds of huskies ending up on death row at the local shelters because of overpopulation, largely due to illegal backyard breeding and a demand for wolf-like dogs because of the popularity of wolves in Game of Thrones and the Twilight movies. In hopes of getting more huskies into homes, we transport some of our rescued huskies to Virginia each month.
