Buddy (ADOPTED!) Basset Hound & Labrador Retriever Mix Chicago, IL

**BUDDY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!** Meet Buddy, an ADORABLE Lab/Basset mix, also known as a "Bassador"! This handsome fella is a goofy, mild-mannered, sweet, and very lovable pup looking for a forever home. Buddy was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky and found his way to a loving foster home in Chicago. Buddy was tuned into the animal control facility with his mother, Maisy, a Basset/Lab. Both dogs have been extremely well-loved and cared for their entire lives, but the recent floods in Kentucky destroyed their home. Unfortunately, their owners had to move into temporary housing and could not bring their beloved dogs with them. Buddy was born on Valentine's Day 2020, so he just turned a year old and weighs about 60 pounds. He looks just like a Black Lab but in a short, long, low, stocky Basset body! Buddy can be a little timid when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly. He's social and happy and will make an excellent companion for most homes. Buddy's mother, Maisy, has already found her new family, and we'd love for Buddy to find his soon as well. He has always lived with at least one other dog, and he really enjoys the company of others. We are hoping to find a home for him with at least one other canine companion. Buddy also lived with children and cats in his previous home and get along very well with everyone. He loves to go for walks and to romp in the yard, but he's also just as happy to cuddle up on the couch with his favorite people at the end of the day, so a great mix of energies!
Buddy is crate trained and is housebroken when kept on a regular schedule. He is eager to meet you. Please reach out today to schedule a visit!

Buddy's adoption fee to the rescue is $375. This fee helps to cover his medical expenses while in our care. He is neutered, up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, and microchipped. He has also been started on monthly flea and heartworm prevention.

Buddy is in a foster home in Chicago. He can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved.
