Buddy's Story
Buddy is a very sweet little guy who has come a long way since being in his foster home. Initially he was very timid and didn't want to come around his foster mom unless the other dogs were coming over for pets. He is now coming when he is called, taking part in playing with the other pups and even enjoys a trip to the groomer (however we still have some issues with car sickness). He really begs for attention once he knows you and feels safe. He is a lovely companion pet for someone with a medium to low activity home who is happy to hang out around the homestead and take a walk or two when the weather is good. He would not prefer to be in a home where he travels a lot and wants to visit pet stores, outdoor festivals or the like. Buddy is a larger sheltie and is around 35 pounds. He has a beautiful coat that does need grooming and periodic visits to the professional groomer. He is a very clean boy so those are infrequent. He isn't like most shelties in the fact he does love water and will get right in a creek or pond if he has the ability to do so. He is crate trained and is house trained if kept on a good schedule. He doesn't really have a way to notify you he wants out (even though we have bells on the door) so he seems to just wait until outside time is offered. He is in a foster home with a fenced in yard so currently he is let directly out to potty. He is a good eater and certainly happy to see his food bowl. Buddy is at a great age as he is past the crazy puppy chewing phase and he can be left out and alone ion the home. He does get along with other dogs, but in typical sheltie fashion, will run a fence line barking if there is a dog next door and he can see it as he wants to play. We haven't seen him around cats, but he has very little prey drive with smaller animals so with the correct introductions he and kitties should be just fine with one and other.
