Meet Buddy

Buddy's owner passed away. His widow is moving out of state and doesn't want to take Buddy with her. He was strongly bonded to her husband so perhaps his presence makes her sad.

With a guesstimated birthday in May 2015, Buddy is a little on the chunky side. He's working to lose a few pounds to get himself into a healthier state and be more appealing to adopters. In May 2022 he weighed 42 lb and needs to lose at least 5 more pouinds.

Buddy is a sweet boy with good house manners when kept on a regular schedule. He's friendly with polite dogs and loves car rides. He's recently been on a mini-vacation and introduced to cats. He would like to play "chase-the-cat" and can be unpleasant with the felines so we recommend a no-cat home. He's more tolerant of them indoors when supervised, but outdoors is unreliable.. He's comfy in a 36" crate and is leash-savvy, pulling to get to interesting smells. He loves a good long sniff walk!

Buddy acclimated easily to his foster mom's home, but is praying to be someone's forever companion. If you have a couch or rug for him, and time to spend with him, he'll be your best friend :)

April 2020: We are not holding public adoption events until further notice. Qualified families are being invited to appointments to meet specific dogs. There are currently no opportunities to view multiple dogs and adoption events aren't being held at Tractor Supply in Lenoir.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. Requirement is a minimum three year vet history documenting current / previous pets are spayed / neutered, kept up to date on core vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention. We suggest first time pet owners without a vet history look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience. Other rescues or your local government-run animal control agency may have different adoption requirements.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee equal to refundable spay/neuter deposit may be required if, using our veterinarian or same-day surgery, service is scheduled through our organization. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is
