Buddy's Story

Buddy is estimated to be 4-5 years old, but when you meet you’ll see how puppy-like he actually is, with his playful, excited energy. Buddy likes to come on strong at first, with people and dogs, but after a few minutes he will calm down some. Buddy was in CPAA's Hounds of Prison Education (HOPE) training program, where he received 1-on-1 training, but unfortunately his mouthy behavior got him into a little trouble and he was removed. He is currently in a foster home waiting for his forever home.
Due to Buddy’s energy level, a home with young kids may not be the best fit. We’re working on his attention around cats too, but we’re pretty sure he either doesn’t know what they are, or is just so excited for a new friend that he may not be a great fit for a home with cats. He lives with other dogs in his foster home and does fine with them. He’s still getting training, as his foster mom is a dog trainer, and even though he left HOPE early, he still comes with FREE lifetime training support in his forever home!

We have no idea what Buddy’s early life was like, but when he was found as a stray in 2023, he tested Heartworm positive! He did great with his treatment and he is now Heartworm free! Buddy is up to date on all vet care and housebroken.

So if you’re looking for a dog who is eager to learn, yearning to please you, and is happy every second of every day, Buddy may just be your dog!

Please note that CPAA prefers adopters to be within 1 hour of Camp Hill, PA but other applicants may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

To apply to adopt Buddy, go to https://www.centralpaanimalalliance.org/apply-to-adopt.
