Buddie's Story

FAST FACTS
* 4 Years Old & 50lbs
* Potty Trained
* Crate Trained
* Kid Friendly
* Needs To Be Only Dog In Home

Buddie is a 4-year-old, 50-pound sweetheart with a scrunchy face that is impossible to resist. This affectionate boy loves nothing more than being close to his people and soaking up every bit of attention he can get. If you stop petting him too soon, hell gently paw at you as a reminder that he's not quite finished with cuddle time yet.

Despite everything he's been through, Buddie remains a loving, gentle soul. He was found wandering the streets with what appeared to be a neck injury. A kind person tried to help by keeping him separated from their own dogs, but unfortunately the resident dogs jumped the enclosure and attacked him, causing additional severe injuries to his neck. When maggots were later discovered in the wounds, our rescue partners at OTAT West Texas stepped in to get him the medical care he desperately needed. Since then, Buddie has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, had his cherry eye repaired, and received treatment for his wounds. He is now healing beautifully and ready to find the forever family he deserves.

Buddie is potty trained, crate trained, and has a low-energy personality that makes him an easy companion. His days are simple and predictable: he sleeps quietly in his crate overnight, heads outside for a potty break, enjoys breakfast and his eye medication, spends the day lounging near his people, searching for attention, taking naps, and occasionally keeping an eye on the household bird. After dinner, more cuddles, evening medication, and a final potty break, he's ready to settle in for the night. He also enjoys short walks and walks nicely on a leash.

While Buddie is mostly okay with other dogs, he has shown resource guarding behaviors around food, people, and certain spaces, and has occasionally reacted toward other dogs. Because of this, we believe he would thrive as the only dog in the home where he never has to compete for the love and attention he craves. He is good with children but cannot live with cats.

Buddie can be vocal at times and doesn't love being left behind. He may cry for a minute or two when you leave, but settles quickly. When you're home, hell happily stay by your side wherever you go. His favorite activities include being petted, chewing on toys, squeaky toys, chasing balls, and simply relaxing next to his favorite people.

Buddie does have some ongoing medical needs, including eye medication, skin issues, and some discomfort in his hind legs. He struggles with stairs, so a single-story home would be ideal. We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced owner who can continue helping him build confidence and work through his resource guarding behaviors.

His perfect home would be a calm, quiet environment where he can be spoiled the way he deserves. Whether that's with a family, a single person, or a retired individual looking for a loyal companion, Buddie is ready to give endless love in return.

If you're looking for a snuggly, silly best friend who will never let you feel alone, Buddie may be your perfect match.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:

*ADOPTION FEE: $375

*Be at least 21 years of age

*Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household

*Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)

*Have a valid ID with current address (please provide proof of address if ID address is not up-to-date)

*Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation

*Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment

*QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR POLICIES? Fetching Tails Foundation's Adoption Policy
1). All dogs listed on the website are currently available for adoption. We are volunteer-run and will do our very best to respond to your interest in one of our dogs within 24-48 hours. If you have not received a response by the 48-hour mark, please check your spam. 2). The decision to place one of our rescue dogs into either a foster home or adoptive home is not one that we take lightly. We reserve the right to deny any application and may not disclose the reason for denial. This decision is not made on a first-come, first-served basis, it is determined by who would be the best fit for our dog based on their personality in a foster home. 3). At times we have multiple applications on the same adoptable dog - and we reserve the right to stop accepting applications at any point when there is an overwhelming number of applicants for the same dog. This may be the reason you do not see the particular dog on our website or any partner websites, even after submitting an application. If an application is submitted, you should expect a response from us. Process Application – As a potential adopter, you will fill out and submit an adoption application. Your application will be reviewed by an FTF Volunteer, who will contact you within 24-48 hours of submission. Again, please check your spam if you do not hear from someone by the 48-hour mark. Meet If the application is deemed a good fit, the foster/volunteer will schedule a meet with the applicant and everyone in the household. All members of the application household, including dogs, will meet at a secured location decided by the foster and applicants. If a person or dog is over often, they are able to attend as well. Home Checks: After the application has been approved and the meet and greet has been done we will move forward with a home check. ** Please note, if you are in a rented home, we will be contacting your landlord for their approval prior to adoption. If the approval is not written in your lease, we will need written approval from your landlord. Contract If you are approved for adoption, you will be notified and adoption will be scheduled at one of two locations. You will fill out our adoption contract, which details our policies and procedures regarding the responsibility and care of the Fetching Tails dog. At this time you will receive proof of all vaccinations, the microchip number, test results, a rabies certificate, and any additional medical records, if necessary. Adoption Donation When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program. Senior dog. 8 years and up / $125 Adult or Young Dog. 6 months to 7 years / $375 Puppies. Under 6 months / $450 (Cash or check accepted only on adoption day) Care Provided At minimum, all Fetching Tails dogs receive the following: Fecal tests (and treatment, if needed) Age-appropriate Vaccinations Microchip, which will be transferred to you at the time the adoption is processed with our 24PetWatch chip Heartworm Test (and treatment, if positive) Spay/Neuter Surgery Flea & Tick Preventative (during the proper season) Heartworm Preventative (during the proper season) **Please note the following: 1). We are unable to make any guarantees of the future health, age, temperament, size, or breed of your adopted dog. 2). In the event that the adopter is no longer able or willing to care for the adopted dog, or the dog is no longer a “fit” in the home, the adopter understands that the dog MUST be returned to Fetching Tails Foundation. If the adopted dog is not returned to Fetching Tails, the Foundation has the right to subject a fine and if necessary, will take legal action. 3). Please read over your adoption contract carefully.
