Meet Bubba Our Gentle Giant Looking for His Forever Family Hi there! My name is Bubba, and I'm a handsome 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix weighing just over 100 pounds. I could stand to fill out a bit more, but otherwise I'm healthy, happy, and ready to find my forever family! My story didn't start out easy. I was found as a stray with a prong collar embedded in my neck. Thankfully, kind shelter staff took wonderful care of me and helped me begin healing before I made my way to GRCGLA Rescue. Those difficult days are behind me now, and I've discovered just how wonderful life can be when you're surrounded by love. Everyone who meets me falls for my gentle nature. Dr. Snyder, who knows me well, says I'm incredibly sweet, and people are constantly stopping to admire what a magnificent, handsome boy I am. But my best feature isn't my size—it's my heart. I am an absolute mush. Truly one of the most loving, gentle dogs you'll ever meet. Even though I'm a very big boy, don't let my size intimidate you. I never throw my weight around and seem completely unaware of how large I am. I'd much rather lean in for pets, rest my head in your lap, or quietly soak up all the love you have to give. I'm a true people dog and absolutely adore affection. If you happen to stop petting me before I'm finished, I'll gently place my famous "bossy paw" on you as a polite reminder that cuddle time isn't over yet! I also love other dogs, especially little ones. I've made friends with dogs of every size and have become particularly fond of my buddy Patches, who is also waiting for her forever home. Like many dogs who have overcome a difficult past, I've been building confidence every day. Cars used to make me nervous, but recently I surprised everyone by happily hopping into the back seat of a Tesla for a ride. It turns out I really enjoyed the adventure! Despite my size, I'm wonderful on leash and a joy to walk. I have calm, easygoing manners and love spending time outdoors. One of the volunteers who works with me is a professional dog trainer, and we've become great friends. He describes me as a very chill, easygoing dog who simply wants to be loved, and he's even offered to meet with my future family to help make my transition into my new home as smooth as possible. What an incredible gift for both me and my adopters! More than anything, I'm looking for a family who will love me forever and make sure I never have to wonder where I belong again. In return, I'll be your loyal companion, your gentle giant, your cuddle buddy, and your best friend. Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue's Adoption Policy

Thank you for your interest and caring to adopt! The first step in the adoption process is to complete the online adoption application (link below). The next step is the in-home visit. GRCGLARescue does require a $25 donation to schedule this visit. This non-refundable donation helps to offset the costs associated with making our dogs ready to meet adopters, including providing veterinary care, boarding, and other needs. After your application is received, one of our volunteers will contact you. It may take 7-10 days to be contacted, as we receive many applications and volunteers are spread across many duties. The volunteer will schedule a home visit with you. Before submitting your application, please know that our current inventory of dogs is low and the level of applications continues at robust levels. Thus, it may take substantially longer to find a dog that matches the dog’s needs and your interests. The application and home visit are held open for 2 years. Please carefully review this eligibility information prior to submitting your adoption application: GRCGLARescue does not adopt dogs to homes with children under 7 years old unless we know that a particular dog has a solid, positive history living successfully with kids of a similar age to those in the potential adopter's home. As a rescue we receive very few dogs that meet this criterion. Finding a dog who is going to be safe with your kids will likely make your adoption process longer. This policy is for the safety and well-being of your families and our dogs. If you're patient and have realistic expectations about adoption, we'll be very happy to work with you. GRCGLARescue adopts within the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. Because we do require pre-adoption screening and post-adoption follow-up, we cannot support adoptions outside of this service area. If you have any question about whether your city is part of our service area, please email us at info@grcglarescue.org GRCGLARescue cannot adopt dogs into homes where the number of pets currently meets or exceeds the limits set by your local municipal authority (city or county) or your HOA. If you’re not sure about the limits in your area, please contact your city hall, animal control authority and/or HOA to get that information. GRCGLA Rescue cannot adopt dogs to homes that have an invisible/electric fence as a source of containment. GRCGLARescue does not adopt dogs to rental applicants without written proof that the landlord will permit a dog the size of a Golden Retriever in their rental abode. This proof can be a copy of the lease having a clause allowing such a dog, or a separate written document of landlord approval and must be provided to one of our volunteers prior to a home visit being scheduled. Verbal assurances or “contingent” clauses requiring the identification of a specific dog prior to the landlord granting approval are not accepted. Additionally, we will require written proof of any additional pet security deposit required by the landlord being paid. GRCGLARescue does not guarantee that every prospective adopter/applicant will adopt a dog from us. Our goal is to find each of our dogs the best matched home, and we cannot provide any assurance to prospective adopters that we’ll be able to make a placement with them. Unfortunately, most applicants will not get a dog from us. The more flexible you are about your ideal dog the better your chances become. We recognize that you may be working with other rescues, as well as breeders, and visiting animal shelters too. No dogs can be certified as “service” or “comfort” by GRCGLARescue. All dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and vet-checked prior to adoption.
