Bryn's Story

Dog Name: Bryn
Approximate Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat friendly: Yes
Child friendly: Yes
House trained: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Fence needed : No
Energy level: Medium
Temperament: Friendly, easy-going, happy
Foster location: Colton, SD
Adoption Fee: $350

About me:

Bryn is a 3-year-old Yellow Lab with a heart as big as her smile. After being hit by a car, Bryn came into rescue and had to have one of her back legs amputated. Thankfully, this resilient girl hasn't let that slow her down one bit!

Bryn is happiest when she's with her people, soaking up all the love and attention she can get. She does great in her kennel during the day, but after spending the first three years of her life living in an outdoor kennel, she much prefers stretching out on a cozy dog bed and enjoying the comforts of home.

One of Bryn's favorite activities is going to get a pup cup! She's always up for an adventure and doesn't let having three legs stop her from enjoying life. While she enjoys getting out and exploring, she prefers shorter walks and is currently working on her leash manners. Bryn is also a true water dog and absolutely loves splashing around or lounging in her kiddie pool on a warm day.

Because of her amputation, Bryn does best in a home with minimal stairs. Hardwood and slippery floors can be challenging for her since her back leg sometimes slips, so rugs or carpeted areas help her feel more confident getting around. She may need a little assistance getting into a vehicle, but she can hop back out all by herself.

Bryn has experienced a lot of change in a short amount of time and continues to adapt with an incredibly positive attitude. She loves the resident dog in her foster home but would do best with slow introductions to any new canine friends.

If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with an inspiring spirit and endless love to give, Bryn may be your perfect match.

*AHCR cannot guarantee any breed/possible breed of the dogs in our care or the size they will be full grown. All of our animals are fixed, microchipped, started on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and on a flea/tick and heart worm preventative prior to adoption. Please note that all of our animals are in foster homes, and you must have an approved application to meet any of them unless at a scheduled meet and greet event. Please check your city ordinances to ensure you will not exceed the animal limit. To apply to adopt, go to: https://almosthomecaninerescue.com/application/

ADOPTION PROCESS **Please note that we reserve the right to terminate an application at any point throughout the adoption process. Rude or inappropriate behavior towards our volunteers are not tolerated at any time. WE NO LONGER ARE ACCEPTING GENERAL APPLICATIONS. Please list a specific dog(s) that you are interested in adopting. Please know that listing interest does not guarantee that you will adopt that animal. You may list multiple dogs. VETTING All current animals in the home MUST be up to date on all appropriate vaccinations and be spayed or neutered unless there is a medical reason verified by your veterinarian’s office. Please call your vet and confirm that your animals are current on their vaccinations PRIOR to completing the application. Any application that has current pets that are not up to date (excluding medical reasons) will not be considered and removed without notice. REFERENCES Please contact your personal references to let them know we will be calling and to release information to us. Also be sure to list accurate telephone numbers of your references. This ensures your references call us back, which helps the process move along more quickly. We will attempt to contact your references no more than 3 times. PRE-ADOPTION HOME VISIT This home visit provides us an opportunity to get to know you and for you to get to know more about us and the rescue dog you are interested in adopting. This also helps us see if a dog would be a good fit for the energy and layout of your home. We are not there to judge your home; we just want to ensure our dogs will be safe in your home and be a good fit for your family. All members of the household MUST be present at the time of the home visit. We generally do homevisits through Zoom Meetings. Due to Covid19 many of our home visits are being conducted electronically. MEETING THE DOG/ADOPTION Once the home visit has been completed, we get you in contact with the foster parents so you can set up a time to meet the dog. We expect an adopter to take possession of a dog as soon as it is ready to be adopted. We do not allow same day adoptions. Please plan for a day to meet and adoption to take place the next day. WE DO NOT HOLD DOGS FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. If you plan on moving, taking a trip, or have major life events coming up, please wait and apply AFTER those events have occurred. This is to ensure the dog's life is not disrupted more than necessary. Thank you for understanding! WE DO NOT REFUND ADOPTION FEES Sometimes we have multiple applications for a dog. Please understand that we do our best to choose the home we feel is the best fit for the dog. This does not mean that you aren't a good adoptive family; we just may not think the dog would do well in your home. We may not decide until after we have done home visits for multiple families and we appreciate your cooperation and patience. Thank you for understanding. **If the dog you applied for was adopted by another family please know that we will keep your APPROVED application on file for 6 months. If another dog catches your eye in that time frame please email adoptions@almosthomecaninerescue.com. We are always here to help! We want this adoption to be successful, and we always are here to give advice and offer assistance. Please do not hesitate to email us at info@almosthomecaninerescue.com with any questions or concerns.
