Bruno's Story

MEET BRUNO

*FENCE REQUIRED*

Bruno is a stunning 5-year-old blue fawn Great Dane with soulful eyes and a heart full of love—just waiting for the right person to help him shine. Rescued from a neglect case in Mississippi, Bruno has come a long way, but he’s still learning to trust the world again.

Bruno currently lives with a foster dad and four other Great Danes—plus some outdoor cats—and he gets along wonderfully with all of them. He’s gentle, kind, and would never hurt a fly.

When he’s with his dog crew, he’s playful, bouncy, even a little goofy. He’s especially fond of roughhousing with the younger Danes—he’s got serious gazelle energy!

Bruno is still very timid with humans he doesn’t know. New people, new places, new experiences—they’re all scary to him at first. His go-to response when he’s overwhelmed is to hide or flee, which is why a securely fenced yard is a must. He also struggles with car rides and leash walking; when he's nervous, he pancakes and refuses to move.

Bruno will need a few weeks to decompress and adjust to a new home. His new family should be prepared for him to cower, hide, and avoid interaction at first. This is completely normal for him. Once he realizes he’s safe and begins to trust his new people and surroundings, you’ll see his true, playful, affectionate self emerge. Because Bruno is so timid and easily startled, he’d do best in a calm home without young children.

Nothing brings Bruno out of his shell faster than another confident, playful dog. His foster siblings have done wonders for his confidence and happiness. That’s why we’re looking for a home with another large, friendly, social dog who can help guide Bruno and make him feel secure.

He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and chipped.

Bruno‘s adoption fee is $350. To apply to adopt Bruno and read over the requirements before applying, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the Dane in person from his or her foster parent.

We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only. 2. All Dogs and outdoor Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heartworm and flea prevention. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a Great Dane in your rental home. We check property records.? 5. Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered. It will take us more time to get the home visit set up. At any time, if you have questions about the status of your application, please email the rescue at nwflgdr@gmail.com.
