Français ci-dessous Meet Bruno (aka Doug), a cuddly, goofy 2-year-old sweetheart with a big soft spot for people. He loves attention, enjoys being close to his humans, and is happiest curled up beside someone for a good nap. He’s affectionate, friendly, and easy to bond with. Bruno is a quick learner, especially when treats are involved. He enjoys walks where he can sniff and explore, but is just as content relaxing at home. He’s crate trained, settles nicely, and greets visitors politely without jumping or barking, though everyone still has to pass his sniff test. Because he can be quick and a bit brusque, even though it isn’t mean-spirited, he would likely do best with older children (7+). Bruno is looking for a home where he will be the only pet. He cannot live with cats, and while he currently lives with another dog, he can become very excited when encountering dogs and may be reactive to some. He doesn’t like dogs that show any aggressiveness or intense behaviour, especially when they come into his space. A calm, dog-free home will help set him up for success. He is working with a trainer on his leash skills and making good progress. Bruno has lots of love to give and is ready for a forever home where he can relax, feel secure, and be part of the family. Il aime être au centre de l’attention, se tenir proche de ses humains, et rien ne le rend plus heureux que de se blottir contre quelqu’un pour une bonne sieste. Il est affectueux, amical et facile à apprivoiser. Bruno apprend vite, surtout lorsqu’il y a des friandises à la clé. Il aime les promenades où il peut renifler et explorer, mais il est tout aussi heureux de se détendre à la maison. Il est habitué à la cage, s’installe calmement et accueille les visiteurs poliment sans sauter ni aboyer, même si tout le monde doit passer son test de reniflement. Comme il peut parfois être rapide et un peu brusque, même sans mauvaise intention, il serait probablement plus à l’aise avec des enfants plus âgés (7 ans et plus). Bruno recherche un foyer où il sera le seul animal de compagnie. Il ne peut pas vivre avec des chats et, bien qu’il vive actuellement avec un autre chien, il peut devenir très excité lorsqu’il rencontre d’autres chiens et peut réagir à certains d’entre eux. Il n’aime pas les chiens agressifs ou trop intenses, surtout lorsqu’ils envahissent son espace. Un foyer calme, sans autres chiens, l’aidera à réussir. Il travaille avec un dresseur pour améliorer sa marche en laisse et fait de beaux progrès. Bruno a beaucoup d’amour à donner et est prêt à trouver un foyer définitif où il pourra se détendre, se sentir en sécurité et faire pleinement partie de la famille. Frontier Animal Society's Adoption Policy

CATS When placing a cat into an adoptive home, our primary goal is to ensure that the adopter is the right match for that particular cat. It is very traumatic for both the cat and the adopting family if the cat has to return to the shelter. We also want to be sure that the adopter is ready for this responsibility and commitment. We feel it is already very positive that you are choosing to adopt rather than buy a cat from a pet store (which is more often than not from a kitten mill). Our Procedure for Adopting a Cat The adoption/inquiry process starts by either sending us an email or by contacting our adoption coordinator directly by phone. During the initial contact we can answer your questions, and we will have some of our own as well, such as what type of home you can provide and what kind of cat you are looking for--energy level, types of activities you do, length of time the cat would be alone during a typical day, other animals in the house, children and age of children, male/female preference, and any other of your important criteria for choosing a specific cat. Some of our potential adopters are interested in meeting a particular cat while others prefer to come to the shelter to meet a few of our adoptable cats and choose among them. Either way, prior to your visit, you may want to have a conversation with our adoption coordinator and then make an appointment to visit the cat(s). We also offer an Open House every Saturday and Sunday morning from 10 to 12 when people can drop by the shelter and meet some of our cats. We like to talk to each potential adopter because we know our cats, and through conversation we can get a feel as to whether or not the cat you are interested in will be a match. If you aren't sure what type of cat is best suited to your lifestyle, we can often help narrow it down. Our preference is that all family members attend the adoption visit and if younger children live in the home, they should be present as well. Depending on the dog's age at the time of adoption, dogs are a 10-15 year commitment. First Visit Adoptions We try to discourage first visit adoptions, because adoptions should not be an impulsive or emotional decision. It must be a well thought out, rational decision. You also need to prepare your home for the new pet. If a first visit adoption is anticipated (for example adopters living a distance away from the shelter), then reference checks must be made beforehand. Home checks are scheduled on a case by case basis.
