BRUNA's Story
Well helloo out there! My name is BRUNA and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: German Shepherd Mix (best guess!)
Age: 9 months old
Gender: Female
Weight: 35 lbs **I am still growing, so I will likely max out around 40–45 lb range as an adult**
Height: 60 cm (paws to top of my head)
Length: 76 cm (head to butt)
Neck Circumference: 29 cm
Chest Circumference: 54 cm
Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY - I was rescued when I was approximately one month old in Chalco, State of Mexico. My rescuer was organizing a spay-and-neuter campaign in an area known for its large population of stray and abandoned dogs when she found me. I was one of three lucky puppies who were rescued that day! Since then, I've been growing up safely in rescue and waiting for a forever family of my own.

TEMPERAMENT - I'm a sweet, friendly puppy with a gentle and somewhat shy nature. While I absolutely love playing with other dogs and quickly make canine friends, I take a little more time to build trust with new people. Once I know someone, I'm friendly and happy to spend time with them, but strangers can make me feel a bit unsure at first (video). I'm more playful than cuddly and love spending my days exploring, playing, and learning about the world around me. I do have my affectionate moments (video, video 2, video 3) - but preferably after I've had a good play sesh or a walk hehe. I can be a little cautious in new situations, but with patience and encouragement, my confidence continues to grow. I have not shown any aggression and am a very kind-hearted girl!

It's always important to think about "breed need" when considering adoption! Please keep in mind that German Shepherds can be highly intelligent, active, and sensitive working dogs. They are typically loyal and deeply bonded to their people, but they do best in homes that can provide consistent training, structure, daily exercise, and mental stimulation. Without proper outlets, they may become bored or develop unwanted behaviours such as reactivity, anxiety, or destructiveness.

MY IDEAL HOME:

I would love a patient family that understands I may need a little time to settle in and build confidence. A family or adopter with experience with German Shepherds would be a bonus (or a desire to become a GSD expert!)
Because I gain so much comfort from other dogs, I would likely thrive in a home with one or more friendly, playful canine companions who can help show me the ropes and encourage me as I continue to grow.
As a young puppy, I still have lots to learn and will benefit from ongoing socialization, training, and opportunities to experience new things in a positive way.
I would probably prefer to live in a townhome or a house instead of a condo, and a yard would be a big bonus!

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium – I'm still a young puppy who enjoys playing, exploring, and spending time with my dog friends. I also know how to relax after my adventures and don't have an over-the-top energy level. Daily exercise (mental and physical!), enrichment, and training will help me continue to develop into a well-rounded adult dog.

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Unknown. I have not been tested with children.
Dogs – Yessss! I absolutely love other dogs! I live with many dogs of different sizes and get along well with all of them. I especially enjoy playing with other puppies. I share food peacefully and am friendly with dogs I meet on walks and at the dog park.

Here is a video of me meeting a friendly dog out on my walk.
Here is a video of me meeting a dog who was growling a bit. Even then, you can see that I'm not reactive to him and am a bit submissive.
Here is a video of me playing at the shelter. I loveeeee to play with my doggo pals!
Here is a video of me hanging out at the shelter with some of my doggy buddies.

Cats – Unknown. I have not been tested with cats.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Pretty good! My rescuers say I walk nicely on leash and am pretty comfortable around traffic and noisy roads. When I first head out for a walk, I can be a little cautious and may tuck my tail while I take in my surroundings, but I quickly relax and gain confidence. I will need an adopter who is happy to continue working with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!

Here is a video of me on leash next to traffic.
Here is a video of me on leash on a quiet road.

House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer.
