Bruce's Story

***NOTE: This pet is currently at the shelter in Republic, WA, and can be delivered to an approved adopter on our 5/2/26 adopted pet transport to Monroe, WA to begin a 30-day trial placement – part of our distance adoption program.***

Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application

Please do not call the shelter; do the application first.

Meet Bruce, also known as "The Bruce Dozer," an unbelievably resilient 65-pound survivor who is ready to plow his way into your heart just like he does when he’s looking for affection. Though he is only two years old and a bit shorter in stature, he is built like a tank and possesses a strength that matches his incredible spirit. Bruce came to us with a severe injury to his back paw, but he is mending beautifully and greets every visitor with a wagging tail, a huge smile, and plenty of kisses.

This sweet boy absolutely thrives on human companionship and will happily spend hours being petted, rewarding your attention with a unique "happy grunt" that sounds like a tiny, awake-but-snoring noise. Because he is still healing from surgery, his activity is currently limited, making him the perfect co-pilot for a quiet, cozy home while he finishes his recovery. Once he is fully healed, however, he will be ready for endless rounds of play.

Bruce is already housetrained and loves people of all shapes and sizes, though he does need to be the only pet in the home as he doesn't get along with cats and his status with other dogs is still being tested. If you have a pet-free home and a heart ready for a sturdy, loving bestie who has proven he can overcome anything, The Bruce Dozer is waiting for you.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Bruce is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
