Brooke German Shepherd Dog & Terrier Mix Yellowknife, NT

1 year old Brooke is a complete goofball who absolutely adores cuddle time with her favourite people. She's the sweetest, snuggliest and most loyal girl, but it takes time for people to see this side of her personality. When she first came to the shelter, she was very fearful of her new environment and everything going on around her. We could see that she is not well socialized to meeting new people and felt guarded during new introductions. Staff were slowly able to win over her trust and we could see what an amazing, affectionate, full of love dog Brooke was. She still struggles with her fear towards new people and would need proper introduction to potential adopters, but once she knows you're a friend, she wiggles and flops over for belly rubs whenever she sees you!

Since she is a shepherd mix, she is incredibly intelligent and has an undeniable love for food which makes it that much easier for training. She enjoys going for long walks, rolling and leaping in the snow and playing with her toys. Brooke is selective with her dogs friends, and while we've been able to get her to the point of being neutral when walking beside some, she would likely be better suited with being the only animal in a home.
