Brig's Story

Brig is a 2.5-year-old Carolina Dog/German Shepherd mix and an AWF alumni who recently found his way back to us due to circumstances beyond his control. While his journey brought him back, it also gave him the chance for a true new beginning.

We’ve renamed him Brig, short for Brigid, the Celtic goddess of healing, protection, poetry, and new beginnings —a name that perfectly suits a dog who is gentle, loving, and ready to start fresh. Brig quickly stole one of our manager’s hearts and has been thriving in foster care with her.

In his foster home, Brig has shown himself to be house trained, easy on leash, and wonderfully adaptable. He enjoys playing with other dogs and does well with cats, occasionally just needing a gentle reminder. He takes treats politely, loves toys and bones, and is comfortable free roaming at night. While crating isn’t his favorite, he will crate if needed. One of Brig’s best qualities is his ability to match the energy of his home—happy to play when it’s time for fun and just as content to relax when things are calm.

Brig is the kind of dog who melts into a soft bed or claims a cozy spot on the sofa like he’s always belonged there. He gives the sweetest kisses to show his love and has a natural ability to settle right into your rhythm.

Brig is ready for his new beginning.
