Briar the golden blonde dachshund might be your perfect little companion.

Briar is a sweet 10-month-old purebred dachshund weighing 10 lbs with a beautiful golden blonde coat. She came to Little Paws as a surrender and is ready to find her forever home where she can shower someone with love.

This young girl is incredibly loving and will absolutely be your shadow—wherever you go, she wants to be right there with you. Her cuteness is matched only by her devotion to her people.

Environment

Briar has a medium activity level and enjoys short walks and playtime. She's still working on her potty training and making good progress. She's also working on leash training and is getting there—with patience and consistency, she'll be a great walking partner.

This girl loves her crate—it's her happy place! A fenced yard would be wonderful for her to play and explore, but it's not absolutely required if you're committed to regular walks and outdoor time.

Briar is an alert girl who will definitely let you know if anything is coming. She's quite the watchdog and isn't suited for homes with shared walls due to her vocal nature. She can be left alone for a little while and does fine on her own for short periods.

In the car, Briar has been pretty good, though she can get a little shaky sometimes. With more experience and reassurance, she'll likely become more comfortable with car rides.

Pets & People

At first, Briar can be timid and will bark when meeting new people, but after a bit of time—especially if you give her some pets—she settles down and becomes comfortable. She just needs a moment to warm up, and then she's happy to accept affection. When strangers approach, she'll alert to let you know someone is there, but beyond that initial announcement, she's pretty good.

Briar does great with other dogs! She currently lives in a home with three other dogs, and her foster family introduced them slowly to help her adjust. She's been wonderful with her canine housemates.

She's not food aggressive at all and doesn't snatch treats or food. She's polite and well-mannered around meals and snacks.

One adorable quirk: she's a dachshund through and through! When outside, she knows something is in the ground (moles) and will try to dig for them. It's in her DNA, and it's part of her charm!

Location

Briar is available for adoption from Danielson, CT. Please email fosternorth@littlepawsdr.org

with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above. The adoption fee for Briar is $600.
