Note: Dogs are pack animals and do not do well away from other members of their pack. The adopter is the alpha member of the pack, and the dog or puppy needs as much one-on-one contact with the alpha as possible. For this reason, all Route 66 Rescue Inc. dogs are adopted to inside homes only. They must be on leash, or inside a secure fence when outside, and not left outside alone when no one is home. Invisible fencing does not qualify as protection since other animals and strangers have access to the dog. The dogs must be returned to Route 66 Rescue, Inc. if ever given up by the adopter. Brew has a story to tell. He was hit by a car, and the driver drove right on. A kind person scooped up the injured dog, and took him to an emergency clinic. Brew had a broken pelvis and his femur was separated at the shoulder. It was awhile before enough wonderful people stepped forward to help. His femoral head osteotomy surgery was completed for Nov. 20. He has done very well after his surgery, and when he has healed, he will be available for adoption.
