Brandi's Story
"The sailors say, "Brandi, you're a fine girl" (You're a fine girl)
What a good dog you would be (Such a fine girl)
Yeah, your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea”

Remember this great old Number 1 song on the Billboard record charts by rock group Looking Glass in 1972? Imensely popular for decades and still played. Above quote shamelessly stolen for canine purposes. Looking Glass undoubtedly would approve!

Brandi - a joy & a lovable funny snuggle bug. Wants to be with you, next to you and loving you. Loves kids, adults and all dogs. Would love a buddy dog.

Vital stats:
14 months young.
Fully vetted - Excellent Health.
Weighs 51 lbs.

At this weight she is right where an adult female Plott Hound should be. Chances are she won’t be getting much bigger if at all.

Part or perhaps even 100% Plott Hound is a good bet. Being a rescue of course, we are never sure - so lets just say she's a fabulous mix from Mother Nature and her great genetic centrifuge. Excellent sight and hearing. Tracking squirrels is one of her hobbies. Fenced in yard -a must with sight or scent hounds. They will follow their eyes and/or noses. Trust me -she is fast and you won’t want to be trying to catch up to her if a crazy squirrel catches her line of sight and you don't have a fence.

Up to date on all vaccines -including rabies.
Completely house trained.
***ZERO accidents in her foster's house!!!

Sleeps through the night with no complaints and no need for a potty break. You will easily get your 8 hours of beauty sleep in without her waking you to go out.
Sleeps fine in a crate (provided a comfy dog bed is inside) with no issues or complaints. A treat in a chew toy tossed in will get her right inside.
***(only crated at night so she is comfortable with it as some adopters do crate their dogs). My own dogs are not crated and Brandi would be fine uncrated in the house.

She quickly picks up on household routines and where the door to go outside is or the door to get in a car for a car ride. She rides in a car very quietly and with no distress or stomach upset.

The cleanest whitest teeth her foster has ever seen.
Beautiful Brindle Coat. People who meet her always take notice and comment on it. She adores any & all attention. Her coat is low maintenance and can go a long time without brushing. Very good at bath time and being towel dried. Time with you - even bath time - is a good time to her.

She is a narrow dog with a fabulous tail. It’s a nice length, thickness and very sturdy. It wags faster and faster the happier she is and make no mistake -she is a very happy dog. You can’t miss hearing her tail as it thumps against a wall or door - you’ll wonder who let the bass drummer from the marching band inside. She's really a nice size. Big enough to easily get in the car and yet light enough to be lifted if need be.

She moves with such a smooth fluid grace - especially when getting on the couch to sit next to you or put her head on your lap. She has never tried to get on a bed. If you wanted her to I’m sure she would be happy to oblige.

Brandi is a submissive dog with other dogs. Her foster has a large Alpha male 100lbs + GSH/B&T Coonhound and a 60lb Alpha Australian Shepherd female -Brandi has just smoothly moved in. No quarrels and no fighting. She just wants to play and is willing to just go with the flow.

Good appetite (she will carry her empty food bowl around) and very treat motivated. Loves chew toys and dental chews. Easily takes her heart worm preventative pill and has also been given a monthly flea & tick topical preventative. Enjoys destuffing stuffed animals - especially ones with squeakers.
She walks on a leash pretty well with the caveat -we still react instantly to squirrels. More time on the leash and training will be good for that - but you do want to be aware with a good hold on a good leash - especially at times of the year like now where squirrels are quite active gathering nuts for the coming winter.

Rarely barks - she is not a noisy dog at all - other than a thumping tail - when you walk in the door she is so happy you’re home that tail will be thumping loudly against the wall to beat the band

Is there no better feeling than walking in the door of your home and having someone that happy to see you? Trust me - it’s a wonderful welcome home.
Come home to Brandi - such a fine girl.

Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450.

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip.

To ensure the best match for both our dogs and adopters, we require a fully completed adoption application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with the entire household. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed.

Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption and does not obligate you to adopt; it simply allows us to begin the review process.

To request an application or for additional details, please email adopt@safehavendogsIL.org

Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to approve or decline any adoption application based on the best interest of the dog.
