Boots's Story

Boots is a handsome boy with a big heart. This adult dog has a friendly, easygoing personality and enjoys the company of people. He is a calm gentleman who has had positive experiences with children. Give him a treat and he is yours forever!! He is fine in the car and will help you find the nearest Pup Cup if you let him!!

Despite his larger size, Boots is gentle and affectionate. He loves being near his people, whether that means going for walks, lounging around the house, or soaking up attention and belly rubs.

If you are looking for a loyal, dog-friendly companion with a strong presence and a soft heart, Boots is ready to step into his forever home.

Volunteer Perspective:
Boots has quickly become one of my favorites! He’s so sweet, and gets so excited to see his people. Boots has the kindest eyes, and has mastered the art of looking up at you sweetly to get that extra treat. He loves hugs, is a great size (maybe about 40 pounds) and walks so well on the leash. I love spending time with Boots, and look forward to getting to see him. He is just a sweet, unassuming gentleman who will fill your day with love. Don’t miss your chance to meet this great boy!

Doggy Day Out Adventures:
Boots was born for field trips! He jumped in the car like he'd been doing this his whole life. I rolled the window down so he could live his best "dog in a movie" moment with his nose in the wind... but instead, he decided my son was a much better use of his time and spent the ride cuddled up next to him.

Boots is a hugger. Like... a professional hugger. And several Ace Hardware employees willingly accepted Boots hugs and immediately fell in love with him! One employee even disappeared and came back with Milk-Bones just for Boots. Five seconds later, they were best friends. That's just the effect Boots has on people.

Then came Whataburger. We handed Boots his very first French fry. He gently took it, squished it around in his mouth then dramatically spit it out. We stared at him. He stared at us. So... naturally... we gave him another one. Apparently the first fry was just a warm-up because the second one unlocked a whole new level of happiness. He immediately climbed onto my center console and planted the biggest thank-you kiss right on me. I guess he just needed to process this magical potato experience.

Our final stop was Andy's for a pup cup. Friends... I have never seen a tail move that fast. If tails had speed limits, Boots would've been getting a ticket. By the time we got back to the shelter, he was hot, tired, and wearing the biggest smile. Honestly... so were we.

Boots is one of those dogs that somehow gets even better outside the shelter—and that's saying something because he's already pretty amazing inside it. He's affectionate, gentle, incredibly well-mannered, takes treats like a gentleman, and was wonderful with my son.
If you know anyone looking for a dog who will happily trade personal space for hugs, make complete strangers fall in love with him in under five minutes, and remind you to appreciate the little things—like French fries and pup cups—please send them to come meet Boots. Someone is going to hit the jackpot when they adopt this sweet boy. I just hope they hurry... because he's ready.
