Boone's Story

Boone is a young dark brindle boxer/pit mix, around 1–2 years old, with a playful personality and a lot of energy.
He’s known for his signature “kangaroo jumps” and loves to use his paws when he gets excited, which makes him both entertaining and full of character. Boone is an active, fun-loving dog who would do well with someone who can match his energy and continue working with him on basic manners.
He is neutered and appears to be housebroken, which is a great start for transitioning into a home environment.
Boone seems to do well with other dogs and older kids, but we would require a meet and greet to ensure it’s a good fit for everyone involved.
He would thrive in a home that can provide structure, activity, and consistency. In return, Boone offers a fun, affectionate personality and a lot of enthusiasm for life.
If you’re looking for a lively companion who will keep you on your toes and make you laugh, Boone could be a great match.

Petersburg Animal Care & Control's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting from Petersburg Animal Care & Control! We’re so glad you’re considering giving a shelter pet a loving home. We do not charge an adoption fee; however, all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and the cost of the procedure is covered by the adopter. We’re happy to support adopters by coordinating appointments with our low-cost veterinary partners for spay/neuter services and other basic care needs. Adoption Process • We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you get to know the animal. • When you arrive, please sign in and wait to be escorted by a staff member or volunteer before entering the kennel areas. • For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet, our team will bring them to a meet-and-greet area for proper introductions. • After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application. Applications must be approved before we can schedule a meet-and-greet with your family pets. • Meet-and-greets with personal pets are by appointment only, and for safety, two staff members must be present to handle all animals involved. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make each match the best fit possible — both for our animals and their future families.
