Boomer's Story

LOOKING FOR MY ANGEL: Approx. 11 years old / Approx. 14 lbs.

Hi, my name’s Boomer! I found myself lost or abandoned on the roadside, so a nice lady picked me up and worked with a vet and animal control to try and locate my family as well as do my legal stray hold. My former owners did not come for me, so the nice lady helped me work my way to Mostly Mutts for which I’m thankful! I’m in a nice foster home now while I wait for my special person or family to come and adopt me.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: There is a young dog in my foster home, and it took me a little while to like him, but now we spend a lot of time together, napping and playing together and just enjoying each other’s company, so if you have a dog, let’s meet and see if we can be good buddies, too. / I do well with the 3 cats in my foster home, as we all just leave each other alone. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with another cat. / I haven’t met kids yet and I don’t think I’d want to live with young children, but if you have teens who would let me do my own thing and be gentle with me, let’s meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster describes me as sweet and energetic, but also independent. I’m not a big cuddler, but I accept affection sitting next to my fosters on the couch and sometimes nuzzling up to them or climb into their lap to be petted. This has increased in frequency as I’ve become more comfortable. Initially, I would give ‘warning nips’, not breaking the skin, when I was uncomfortable with something or overstimulated, but I have stopped doing that now and am super grateful for the great care and kindness I get here. / My energy level is 5-7 so I’ve still got some pep in my step.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t know any specific commands, but perhaps you can teach me some – or perhaps we just don’t concern ourselves with it. / My crate manners are good in my foster home. / I came in originally incontinent, so I’m on a medication to help with that and now I do pretty well in my foster home when taken out frequently. I’ll need a work-/stay-at-home family member who can keep me on a frequent schedule and will understand that there will be some accidents.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love to be with the other dog in the home, and I like knowing that my fosters are home. When my fosters have been out for a little while, I sometimes greet them by nuzzling between their legs – so sweet. I sure like pasta, but don’t give me too much, as people food isn’t the best for dogs. / I’m not a fan of thunder or fireworks so I seek out my family during those times, in fact those are the times I will cuddle with and want to be in their laps for safety. I’m also not a fan of towel drying after a bath. I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get good care and love.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived, and I’ve had that now with 1 tooth pulled, so my mouth is fresh again. I’m on a medication called Proin to help with my incontinence and I should stay on that. I’m also on an inexpensive medication for anxiety and my foster can see that it has helped me settle and I’m doing much better, so I should stay on that.

I’m looking for a wonderful family where I can be a cherished family member! My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
